I bought this for a 2000 Blazer LS. You can see in the pic with clean threads that the notch is about 2 cm short of the hole. So I just reused the old rusty housing. It was very easy to move the rubber to the old housing without any tools.I even hammered a center punch through to try and open the notch hole a bit on the new unit. It wasn't even close, you'd have to cut it to be able to bend it enough.

The metal portion (the cup?) that holds the rubber piece will not go on the vehicle easily as manufactured. The tab that protrudes out to stop spinning when installing is in the wrong spot. I decided to just take the new rubber portions out and place them in my original OEM cups.
