I have a benchtop mill. It's rigidity is high (this is a Frankenmill that has been beefed up recently) but the milling table has a lot of play in the X direction. To avoid issues there I don't climb mill. Problem solved. This endmill throws a lot of hot chips when pushed harder. I have no complaints with it. The price is fair with the quality. It is carbide so it really needs rigidity and larger cuts on a big machine to perform its best. Unfortunately, I can't test the performance under those conditions, but it performed very well on my unique milling setup.

I am pleased with these bits. I am using them on aluminum to cut channels and they are working good. These bits are happiest cutting about 1/8" depth on my small mill. I use oil and I am getting a good finish, not perfect but good. I would buy these again. 5 STARS

These cut just fine on a small project I had using 4140 @ 39-40 Rc.

I ordered these for use in my bench-top milling machine. I work mostly with smaller pieces of stock, so a 3/4" end mill is large enough to face mill a lot of my projects in one pass. The shanks on these are nicely ground and measure exactly 0.750". The side edges are fairly sharp, the flutes are consistently ground, and they run nice and true. The bottom cutting edges are not super sharp to the touch, especially compared to some of my name brand HSS and carbide end mills. I tried a few test cuts on mild steel at around 600 RPM. My machine is not extremely rigid, so I kept my cuts under 0.100" depth with a slow feed rate and plenty of cutting oil. Even with these conservative cuts I was getting a lot of feedback through the hand wheels, meaning there was a lot of cutting pressure being generated. I got significant chatter and poor surface finishes. When I tried just a light skim cut across the surface I had much better results. I think these end mills would work much better in a full-sized knee mill that is designed for the high cutting forces of larger tools. They are fairly inexpensive for carbide tools of this size, and they work reasonably well on my machine for finish cuts. For general all-around milling on a small machine, I would not recommend them however. They do come well-packaged in handy plastic tubes which protect the cutting edges, and I didn't see any damage to them after completing my test cuts. So overall they seem like decent tools for the price, provided you understand their limitations and use them accordingly.
