I bought these with the idea to hold down an industrial drill press vise. I'm mechanically inclined, but for the life of me cannot get these things to clamp down on anything. On the said vise, the clamp tilts back in the t-slot preventing a secure grip. On thinner items, the threaded post will not allow the clamp go down far enough. I may get some 1/2-13 threaded rod and try that instead of the included post.
