The measurements in the tool are not correct. This almost cost us hundreds of dollars because we thought we needed to get an electrician to change our wires. The tool was measuring a 10 gauge wire as a 12 gauge. The fact that this tool is not accurate could cause significant electrical damage and cost someone hundreds if not thousands in damages.Tip: If you have a wire cutter that has the number guage on it, this can be used to measure the gauge without an additional tool and is more accurate because you are measuring the wire rather than the insulation.

For some reason I thought this was a gauge for AWG electrical wire size. It is not. I'm just not familiar with the type of "wire" they are referring to. But it's a well made set of gauges and I can use the metal thickness gauge.
