This is a fast and economical method of changing the gender on ‘D’ type ports. Connect two female serial cables together, or convert a 9 pin female/male connection to a 9 pin male/female connection .
Save the cost and hassle of buying a new cable by just changing the gender of your port and using the cable you already have.

I needed this part to convert a female connector to a male connector. While technically it does this; this product inverts the pin configuration resulting in damage to the system I was testing. Avoid this product at all costs.

My only complaint is that the "fit" is a little loose on my equipment. However, the tightening screws work fine to hold the adapter and cable in place,, and it seems the electrical connections are solid, so I recommend these.
