The butterfly valve body is made of 304 stainless steeland the rubber is food grade.

Gear control

The construction is fine. But I had to turn hard to get a no leak shut off.

Fully functional valves, and I have about eight of them now. Once one arrived that would not close properly. I loosed the bolts, put the handle in the closed position, reassembled everything, and now it opens and closes properly. It just needed some love.

These valves are well machined with a nice smooth finish all around. This is important for beer brewing, you don't want a lot of scratches or roughness to the finish to harbor bacteria. The metal valve disc is also really nice to see. A lot of times with cheaper butterfly valves you'll get a plastic part there to save costs.I probably should have bought the 2" version of these to use with the output of my fermentation tanks. I bought the 1.5" thinking they were more universal for my other TC fittings but realizing now many of my cold side connections are 2". So I'm currently using these valves on the airlock side to allow me to close off the airlock port to switch from my blow off tube to a regular airlock after primary slows down without exposing my beer.Eventually they'll find better use as an output valve on my fermentation tank once I get a step down adapter. Because I'm not pushing a lot of liquid I haven't been able to test if they leak with liquid or not. I don't have reason to believe they will but I haven't tested. I will update this review if I ever hit that situation.Overall this is a great deal for two fully stainless butterfly valves. You can usually expect to pay around this price for a single valve.

I’ve got a conical fermenter, and just added a second and needed some more butterfly valves. These are well manufactured, come in nice little bags, and work perfectly. The action is smooth and the seal is tight. The handles themselves are a little loose in their mount, but it’s kind of the nature of these kinds of valves levers. The knob on the lever end was loose, and it’s hard to tighten when the lever itself spins, but you tighten it up and you’re good. Finish is really nice and well polished. Highly recommended.

This butterfly valve is made of quality parts. Nice stainless with tri-clamp connection and several gaskets. It seems to be made of quality components and seems to seal tightly. There are some tolerance issues and a few of the components seem loose on the handle as others have pointed out but it doesn't seem to affect the functionality. This would be a great addition to any brew or wine setup.

I ordered these 2" butterfly valves to use with home brewing. The 2" butterfly valves fit perfectly with the tri-clamp pressure lid for the FermZilla. I am using this butterfly valve for dry hopping with a hop bong.It keeps an air tight seal which is essential for pressure fermentation and to prevent oxidation.It's easy to sanitize.A spring loaded pin locks the valve disc in place, three different positions, you have to pull the lever out and up/down to open or close the valve.It came with silicone gaskets, however you will need tri-clamps.This is a well made heavy duty valve that was built to last. I got these to test with a small brewing setup and have zero complaints so far. They appear to be well made, clean, and solidly constructed. The seals appear to be made of Viton, but I'm basing this purely off of looks. The valvebody and butterfly are smooth and well polished, which is a must for sanitary components. I've worked with similar components at ten times the price, and while they were a bit more robust in some areas (like the ball handle) - they weren't noticeably better in actual operation. All in all I'm quite happy with these, especially at this price point. I will update this review with any hiccups that may arise, but so far so good!
