I purchased these to use for a custom keyboard backlighting. The LED is very bright and I was able to controll and the single light functions that the PCB could produce. However, if you want to purchase these for the same reason of building a custom board then I would advise you to go with the 1.8mm size instead. The diode will cause keycap interfearance. The actual product is very good though. Easy to solder and they shine very bright. NO DOA on any in my package either. Was plesantly supprised by that.
