Function
The function of the secondary air injection pump(Referred to as SAI pump below) is to allow air to be pumped into the exhaust, helping to put enough air into the mixture to burn when the engine fires again, which can make fuel burn more fully and reduce the environmental damage caused by hydrocarbon emissions.
If it is broken, it may cause the following situations to occur:
- Check Engine Light - Because the function of the SAI pump will affect the engine, when it fails, the check engine light on the dashboard will light up.
- Failed Emissions Test - When your SAI pump fails, your car will emit more hydrocarbons. If you live in a state that requires an emissions test, you will not be able to pass the test.
- Weak Acceleration - A broken SAI pump can cause problems with the air-to-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine, which may cause the engine to fail to produce speed when the gas pedal is stepped on.
- Engine Stalling - A worn SAI pump will cause the engine power gap to be inconsistent, and may cause your engine to suddenly stop.
- Low Idle - When your engine is idling, check whether the current RPM on the tachometer is within the normal range of 600-1000 RPM. When the SAI pump is not working, the speed may be lower than this range, which may cause the car to vibrate or even stall.
Using a faulty SAI pump will cause deterioration of engine performance and driveability, and may endanger your driving safety. When you encounter the above situations, it's time to check your SAI pump and replace it with a new one.

My sons 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7 has 3 components for the power sensors intake. Had to replace all three but it did solve the problem of no power.

This part did not even last a day. It cost me over $1000 in labor to have another installed by a mechanic. Word to the wise, spend the extra money and buy OEM parts. I am currently trying to return as description says it has a 2 year warranty.

I bought this for a 2008 Tundra 4.7 - the wiring harness was too short and we needed to splice on the old harness to make it reach. Everything else works good and the truck is running great again.

My truck was losing pressure i went to a auto they said it was the fuel pump. But when i put the Air Pump Check Valve and Smog Pump Secondary Air Injection Pump Air Pump in it fix the problem

Works great on my 2005 tundra truck. And better yet this air injection pump had internal filter in it. Unlike factory air pump doesn't and you have to buy a modify kit. The only down side is this pump does not have external filter cover like factory modify kit has. what I did was bought me a brake cleaner and take cap off of the can and drilled some holes around the cap and clue it on the inlet pipe of the pump and done.
