I used this to cover a platform in my pet mice cage. One of my mice had a skin issue and was scratching herself until she bled, so I needed to find a way to help file her nails down while she healed. I measured and cut each strip to lay evenly next to each other, and looked great in the end. My mice didn't mind walking on it to reach their wheel, meaning this should help wear down their nails in time as I had hoped! I have taken the platform out many times during cleanings, and have been able to spray this down with cage cleaner, vinegar and even dawn soap, and the tape has stayed firmly in place. I need to use a scrubbing dish brush to clean it thoroughly, but after air drying it still feels like new.I still have a large roll of this tape left, so I could use it on more platforms, wheels or other cage objects for the same nail-filing purposes. I would suggest doing your own research, but I imagine this could be used for other small animals like rabbits, ferrets or possibly birds. Make sure this does not cover all of the surfaces your pet will use, as walking on an abrasive material can cause foot injuries over time if they do not have smooth surfaces accessible as well.

I would say this is rather expensive considering you can just buy normal sand paper and glue it in small pieces and would still make the same job for way less of a price but other than that it worked wonderful and has good grip

my mice have the longest, tiniest nails that I don't dare clip. I covered one of their staircases with this tape, and all of them now how much shorter, duller nails. I put it on wood so I think it will come off easily when it needs to be replaced, but for now I am one happy mouse mom who no longer has to worry about their nails getting caught on their hammocks

I put this on two running wheels in my glider’s cage. All three use them, and this has eliminated the need for me to trim their tiny nails (and traumatize them) weekly. They no longer get snagged on the fleece in their cage and my skin has been saved. I clean the wheels by wiping them down with a sturdy cloth every couple of days and they seem to be holding up well. The amount that comes on the roll should last me at least a few months to half a year.

I didn’t want to pay the extra money for a wheel with the sandpaper inside so I got this. Sticks to the inside so well you’d think it came that way. And it works well for my rats and their sharp little claws

I got this to file my dwarf hamster’s nails. Hamsters have soft paw pads so I DO NOT cover the wheel in this. I cut out small pieces and sporadically place around the track of wheel. This way my hamsters paws and nails are also running on a smooth surface too. This will take time to file nails down. Always check paws and and see if nails are being filed. This rough file tape will stick through many washing’s of your hamster’s wheel. Syrian Hamsters do not need this because they will keep their own nails trimmed.

Pads came up and glider got her 2 front paws stuck in it and gnawed her paws to get loose down to the bone. She has only half of one paw and the other is dead. Absolutely horrible. She is disabled forever due to this product and hope she lives through this; she didn't. I wish I never put it in her wheel trusting the pads would stay in place and no harm would come to my precious animals. What a nightmare. RIP my sweet Phoenix. BUYER BEWARE!!!

It really works! My sugar gliders don't love getting their nails trimmed, but they run on their wheel a lot and I've been so happy to see that this tread has held up well and helped their nails stay short.

Used on running wheel. Pets chewed on it didn't stay in place :( Possibly better to wrap a bird perch?
