Not a novice to bug and animal preservation. Sometimes, there will be an odor associated with certain methods and obviously deceased creatures. But man oh man, these bugs smell AWFUL. I’ve left a few out all day to air out before attempting to use in crafts, but they still smell and I don’t know how much it will actually dissipate

My load stand back when you first open because they have an oder....not satisfied with this product because they look like they are 50 years old.no quality to it and I have to give as a gift so I'm very disapointed
