The photos show for kayak use. I lost my bow line so I purchased these as a replacement. The cord is considerably thinner than my old det, the carabiners look and feel like the Dollar store ones, and the rachet wasn't holding in place. I'm sure they have a good use but not for safety precautions for transporting a kayak.

These work awesome!. I sometimes use the varied different fancy knots. My hands are old and I have difficulty now tying and remembering all the different kinds of knots. These make things so simple I now love them. Simple to make a loop or tie a granny knot to attach one end then just attach the caribbiner and let the ratchet do the work. Easy to get as tight as you need and release is just as easy. I like the bright color for quick easy visability. They are a great value for the money.

By far the easiest especially if you’re using a tent for events etc

Currently these tie down ropes are keeping two 12 x 16 traps in place covering kayaks outside in the Arizona weather without any issues. The tie down ropes have handled all the summer monsoon winds without giving in ( wind gusts up to 60+ miles per hour). The adjustment mechanism allows for fast and easy setup and working with the tie down ropes. Highly recommend.

I didn't have a particular purpose in mind when I got them. I just thought they looked like they'd be useful in a variety of situations during camping, beach trips, and traveling. Conceptually they are but practically I wouldn't trust them for much. The carabiners are really flimsy looking and the rope is pretty underwhelming. The outside of the rope is very clearly not connected to the inside in any way. Just pull on the rope and the outer part stretches pretty far.The ratcheting system feels like it will break pretty quickly under any kind of load. It makes a disconcerting noise when pulled in the direction to unreel it and it flexes when you pull in the locked direction. The release mechanism isn't made of very thin metal and it's already bent at an angle.I certainly wouldn't trust this in heavy winds or on a moving vehicle but it'll make for an instant clothesline. It's a shame, the concept is very cool. With better quality and in a 10-pack I think I'd love these things.
