I would have preferred this be out of brass or a galvanized or mor3 rust resistant metal. BUT it works perfectly for what it is. I am in Florida, which is crazy humid, so I have had drill bits rust in a package I have never even opened. So I am sensitive to potential for bare metal to rust. We really have to protect metal here or it rusts.As an adapter, it works perfectly on my 12v Milwaukee sander/buffer. Keep it coated with oil or WD40 and like any iron, it will be fine for decades. And it is easy to remove rust with vinegar or acid if any metal does rust.I think a 17 mm wrench fits the flats as I recall. The part itself is machined very precisely and is of good quality. The picture is accurate as to what it looks like.This is kind of a must have adapter for the Milwaukee m12 sander/polisher if you want to use standard backing plates that most buffers use.

The threads were not finished properly. I needed to run a die down the threads in order to use. I would have sent it back but i needed it.

Fit the arbor. Had concerns if it was long enough but engaged the threads nicely.
