I really researched magnifying lights before settling on this one. This was the best I could find according to the descriptions. 144 LED lights instead of 72 or 108. 12x magnification instead of 5x or 10x. 5 color modes instead of 3 or none. USB connectivity for versatility. Apparently this is about the best one can buy in this range.However, after I set it up, I was disappointed. Everything works as described. But it doesn't hold a candle to the older standard versions I've been used to. The brightest light available--highest setting in daylight mode--is barely enough to see by. You'd better count on supplementing this with a bright daylight lamp or overhead light. Most of the 5 modes actually make the already dim light dimmer, which renders them pretty useless. The magnifying glass works clearly to about 6" away but is about 2/3 the size of older ones. The base is very heavy--certainly heavy enough to hold up the relatively thin, cheap metal arms and lightweight light head.Realistically this is probably about the best you'll find in a lower end magnifying light these days. But it is not very high quality and is certainly unlikely to be a game changer.
