I bought 5 of these to dim backward LEDs. They were out of the rain in an electrical box along with a remote control circuit. I chose them because they were compact to fit in that box. After 1 year, 3 out of 5 failed.

Worked well for about six months. Now it will not turn off or dim at all despite it only ever controling 1.6A led load indoors. Overpriced Chinese junk.

Does not work. Tested on 12V circuit with two different dimmable bulbs and tried all possible wiring combinations. With one of the wiring combinations it did not work at all but with most wiring combinations it stayed on/could not be turned off and the dimming did not work.I see other reviews reporting similar experiences.

I installed several of these on our boat to control Pautix COB LED strip lights. The dimmer itself is nice and compact and was easy to wire between the 12V power source and the light. For a clean look that better matched the rest of the interior, I discarded the included mounting plate and knob in favor of mounting the dimmer directly to a wooden panel with a Guyker 6mm polished chrome guitar knob. The threaded portion of the dimmer is quite short, and the back of the 1/4" thick panel had to be routed out about 1/8" to ensure enough thread was exposed on the front side for the nut. With the heavier guitar knob the dimmer has a nice solid feel to it, a satisfying on-off click and smooth movement. Dimming control is linear and has a nice wide range, the LED strips can be dimmed down to a very low level.NOTE: When multiple dimmers are used together on a common power supply they can cause each other to flicker. They modulate the LEDs at a high frequency that's not visible to human eyes, but since each unit's frequency can vary a little, low frequency interference (beats) can occur and cause visible flickering and pulsing. A simple and effective fix is to add a fairly large capacitor (I used a 35V 10000uF electrolytic) to the 12V supply to stabilize the voltage.

Using this dimmer switch in a rv. Dimming five 3 watt puck lights. 4 wires but only 3 colours. It was a guessing game. One hooked up it works great. Easy to mount on a thin panel or a 3/4 inch panel. A nice knob to dim with a a reassuring click off.

I would recommend adding a separate switch before it, in order to kill any kind of power draw when it shouldn't draw.

I feel the product description is very accurate - it's what helped me decide that this product would work for me; and it did - perfectly. I installed this in a Sunset Park RV, model Sunray 109 compact camping trailer, hoping to tone down the interior lights. The interior lights are inexpensive multi-LED dome lights. The product is well-described as a low-side PWM dimmer, and that's exactly what you get. For this to work you will need full access to the +12 volt and -12 volt feed from your power source AND the +12 volt and -12 volt line to you lights. If you only have access to just the power that is switched - this will not work for you.In my case, I had access to all wires for the lights. Be VERY careful to wire this with the power cut off, and triple-check your wiring before cutting the power back on. These dimmers have a miniature circuit inside that will not tolerate a wiring mistake ...it will burn up in seconds. Please TAKE YOUR TIME, and triple-check your work. I had excellent results the first time. The dimmer control smoothly rotates with even dimming throughout the full turn of the knob. Mine did not produce any flickering regardless of where I set it. I'm very pleased. Highly recommended.

I went on a limb purchasing this, hoping to install in parallel with a cheap 12 V sticky back LED strip that I attached underneath the awning of my camper. When it is on, it is too bright and when it is off, it is too dark. I needed something in between. The LED strip says it will not work with a dimmer. This is a pulse width module dimmer versus a resistor type of dimmer so in theory, it should work, Viola it does. My switching mechanism to turn it on and off, runs off of a Bluetooth module connected to my solar panel inverter. One time I somehow turned it on when the camper was in storage, draining the battery. The switch has a detent position for the off position so it remains off all the time just in case it gets switched on by accident. It is very easy to turn it all the way down where I can still see around the camper and I’m only drawing 1 watt. At 10 W, almost one amp, I flood the entire campsite with light, which is seldom used that bright. It comes with a small panel and a couple screws to mount. I found it very easy to mount and wire in series with the light.

Pulse Width Modulation Dimmer - Will work with most LEDs as well as low voltage / low current Incandescent and Halogen bulbs. Good / Clear instructions. Easy installation. If you're installing in an RV, you need to dig in the wall a little bit to find your ground wire. Typically it is a white wire and positive is a dark color, many times black. I never will understand why they wire the 12v circuits in RVs as though they're wiring a 120v AC Circuit. The dial has got a Click On/Off function at the full counter clockwise rotation. Hardware included other than connectors for the wires themselves.
