The item is as described, but knocked out one star because there was some minor rust on the rod already. I am using this on a balancing stand, so I can sand it off and remove the rust and it will be functional for my purpose, but this should not be rusted already! If you are using this for a 3d printer and need it to be pristine, you might want to look elsewhere, or take a chance of your purchase being rust-free!

I got this to use on a tractor quick hitch hook. I cut off two pieces about 4” and a groove on each side for a cotter pin. The surface seemed harder than the center, but challenged a carbide cut off insert. Happy with the result.

I purchased this Reliabot 12mm x 250mm Case Hardened Chrome Plated Linear Motion Rod Shaft for the intended purpose of using it as a gauge for a prototype project. I was in a position of needing to know if a certain size steel shaft would be the correct fit without having to buy, measure, and cut a specific length of that size shaft just to see if it would work. I scanned Amazon for any round metal object or type of elongated shaft of a certain diameter in size that I could use instead of having to use the method mentioned. Luckily, I came upon this Reliabot linear motion rod. I found that these rods are available in different lengths and in quite a few diameters. Long story short, I was able to order a handful of these rods in the various diameters and lengths for a fraction of the cost of just one length of a steel shaft. These Reliabot rods made it easily possible to test each size and determine which size would best work for my project. And, as a bonus, I was also able to use these same rods as spindles in my floor standing drill press to cut short lengths of different ID tubing with — which these pieces of tubing were also part of my project. I had already engineered a horizontal cutting gig with adjustable blade depth for my drill press, so the rest was easy with these rods. These Reliabot rods turned out to be just another unexpected purchase that worked out perfectly. The quality of these rods was better than expected and each one had a decent finish. Each rod was also well within the expected tolerances of size and overall length. I have found many more uses for these Reliabot rods!

Quality material. Used it as a tool rest/guide. Hardened steel won't be wearing out for a long time for my application. Needed carbide bits for drilling modifications I made.

Working great as y axis rods on a modified cr-10. Much stiffer than the usual 8mm

I was worried about buying inexpensive rod for my buffer project but thought it was worth a shot...so far I am very happy with the purchase. The rod is straight and appears to be good quality. It spins true and was 12mm on the money.
