Not a half inch shank like stated in the description. Won’t fit in a 1/2in collet.

I needed to do a very small amount of chamfering on aluminum and did not need anything super fancy or expensive as I am still very much in the learning phase and make plenty of mistakes.This tool actually has a good feel and runs true. Comes with plenty of extra carbides and tool. So far no need to replace any of them thankfully but at least I have many extras. Don't know how well it will do with steel so time will tell. I wasn't sure what to expect from a single flute chamfer cutter, but I tend to burn out the HSS, multi-flute chamfer tools abusing them more than I should, so I thought I'd give this a go. It works well, as long as you realize it's not self centering and you have the work piece firmly clamped down in a mill or drill press. It might even work in a router, but I'd be warry of such high RPM on a multi-part, asymmetrical cutter. Don't expect to use it to chamfer holes using a hand drill. This is NOT that kind of bit. However, I just chamfered about 20" of mild steel corners with my old knee mill and it worked like a champ. It will take me some more testing to figure out a good feeds'n'speeds ratio, considering there's a single cutting edge. I'm just getting the hang of carbide insert tooling, and I should probably run this at much higher RPM than I'm used to to get the same finish quality. Presumably the carbide cutter can take that extra heat without breaking a sweat. I'll try to remember to come back and update this after I've worn out a few inserts. (It's nice that each insert has three fresh cutting edges.)
