Quick Disconnects make the mashing and boiling process much easier and much cleaner. With traditional barb fittings, it is very difficult to clean the tubing and pipe fitting during the process. With these quick disconnects, you can quickly remove the tubing and submerge in sanitizer when not in use. MPT disconnect screws into your ball valve and the barb side connects to 1/2"ID tubing.

I have purchased these quick disconnects before, this one is low quality. It does not go on or release. Sending it back. Very disappointed.

The only thing that is 1/2" is the male end inner diameter. Male end threads are 0.83-0.8" tapered major diameter and appears to be 14TPI making it a 1/2"-14 NPT thread. Female end barb is 0.33" inner diameter and 0.52" outer at the widest point and the depth of the barb is 0.98". Hopefully these measurements help the next person buying.

You know how hard it is to find a quick disconnect for 1/4" threads? I was starting to think they just didn't exist, until Amazon decided to recommend home brewing instead of garden hoses. This was exactly what I was after for cleaning attachments, and with a bit of plumber's tape it seals plenty well enough.

Seems well made, works well. Not as heavy as some solid brass alternatives.

Solid, reliable product. Works with any brand receiver and creates a perfect seal for use with cold or hot liquids. I would recommend this product for anyone that uses quick-release components.

I use this for my brewing system. My LBS did not have the double camlocks type so I used these quick connects instead. The only drawback to this style of connector is that they might be a bit too hot to handle when your kettle boil is done. Obviously a rag or a mitt can be used to circumvent this.

This is a fantastic way to update your brewing process. I just added a pump to my brewery and decided to add quick disconnects throughout. These are high quality disconnects. The only complaint would be that you have to put forward pressure to release the sleeve. That makes this a two hand operation if your pump isn’t secured to the bench or your mash tun is empty. Also make sure you buy some heat resistant gloves because these tend to get really hot in the process of transferring wort.

For quite some time, I've had my inlet hoses for pumps attached to the pump inlet using 1/2" FPT hose barbs. I've never liked this setup, because the inlet hoses are always connected, even during storage. But when I set up the initial system, I was out of quick disconnects and just dealt with it.I finally pulled the trigger on these disconnects and after just one brew day, am VERY glad I made the switch. I was concerned that quick disconnects (as opposed to tri-clovers) may allow oxygen ingress and cause the pumps to lose prime. That concern was unwarranted, as the connection was solid and the pumps remained primed as expected throughout the entire brew day. And afterwards I was able to hang up my tubes so they can drain and air dry, as I've always wanted. The product itself is well-built and from everything that I can tell, high quality. They simply "feel" solidly constructed. And they work, so all is well. Highly recommended, especially for the price given that quick disconnects can often cost much more elsewhere.
