My fan is 120 MM, I only stand it and point it at my cable modem which gets really hot. But using the screws is impossible. Came to discover all I had to do is hold it up to the frame of the fan and the airflow holds it tight. Not being screwed down, I can just pop it off, rinse it, shake it dry, put it back. Can't beat it!

The outer part of he filter is hard enough to protect from most accidents like dropping screw drivers or heavier things on them. Un unlikely situation if you set it and forget it, put it happens. The soft spongy part of it is definitely going to filter most dust, but when it comes times to clean them it is gong to be hard to get them out. I'm afraid I may break the outer part trying to remove them.

Good price for a filter if magnetic isn't an option, however the plastic these are made of is very brittle. Can barely touch it without snapping part of the grill. Considering how much of a pain it is to separate the base from the part that holds the filter, this is near an impossible task. For some reason it has clips on all four sides, requiring you to pry in all directions to remove it. Prying on it of course will break the plastic. If you can't find anything better, file off two of the clips after you first remove it so that only 2 opposing sides hold it, this is plenty to hold it. I'll be looking for another solution.

My only gripe is these are a little hard to remove to clean, but I guess that's better than them falling off.

I made a router and modem box (out of a letter sized decorative box from Amazon) to keep them hidden but they had a tendency to overheat. I installed this fan to the bottom of the box blowing downward so it would pull air through the back of the box where the cords come in. Couple with small feet to elevate the box a little, this fan keeps everything cool and running well while being virtually silent. You have to be right beside the box (ear inches from the fan) whenever is turned on or off in order to hear if it's running!

Ordered these filters to attack to a set of 120mm fans I purchased to cool down my Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver, which gets a little warm at times. The fans work great but I wanted to put some kind of filter on them to catch any dust. When these filters arrived, I thought they would work out so I attached them to the fans. However, with the filters in the holders, the airflow through the fan was significantly reduced. I then too the filter material out of the holder and placed it on top of the fan. The flow was reduced a bit, but not to the level it was when the filter material and grill holder was attached. The filter media is fine for catching the dust but when placed in the holder, the grill/holder restricts the airflow so much that I decided to use the media without the grill. These are fans designed for cooling a computer enclosure so the flow through them may not be as great as some other fans available. However, I did check around before buying the fans and found that they produced about the same airflow as most other fans in this size.I may try to cut out the rings in the grill to see if that helps increase the airflow as I would have liked to use the grills on the fans themselves rather than just the media. If this helps I will update this post.
