The filters fabric for this set seem of good quality as well as the screen filter, but so far on the three prefilters I have used, the side seam has leaked causing the filters to be useless as the syrup is simply going out the side. The syrup in the photo is after I had ran the syrup through the filters twice as per the instructions (once at 216 with the prefilter and again at 219 with the prefilter and heavy filter) and you can see black specks in it, from little pieces of bark or ashes from the fire, which it didn't filter out.

Paper filters work okay but the heavy filter plugged up after a pint and a half. Very slow.

Wet the thick filter first, it work much better. Gets clogged and then your filtering is very slow. We rinsed and reused 3 times, each time it filter slower - perhaps rinse with warm water instead of hot. It seemed to shrink after the first use. If you aren't too worried about sugar sand, doubling the thinner filters worked better.

I appreciate that there are 10 of the disposable sap collection filters because those will just give you one usage for the most part. The other two being the nylon mesh filter which gets the large matter out of your solution and the heavy felted filter for boiling are easily enough cleaned for use again and again. You will need to supply your own frame for these or use a large 10" bouillon or China cap culinary strainer funnel like you use for jellies or stocks. These are nice for any other finer filtration if you make herbal tinctures, too. Their large size makes them much simpler for effective filtering than coffee filters. There won't be sap running around here for a while yet so I haven't had a chance for any syrup boiling or straining but I'll get good wintertime usage with alcohol infusions and tinctures util spring weather arrives.

Review: 12 Pcs Maple Syrup Filters Set, 1Qt Reusable Premium Food Grade Filters , Include (1) Heavy Duty Boiling Filter (10) Pre Filters for Sap Collection and (1) Nylon Mesh Filter - (Cone Shape)🏎️ Quick Rec: Buy if you need a set of filtering mesh for syrup, alcoholic beverages, or other liquids that need to be separated from solids.📝 Additional Notes: I purchased this for maple syrup making & this is exactly what I expected without spending the premium price for the same product at the local shop. These pre-filters are nice as they will last much longer than the throwaway ones that are often used instead.🔢 My Scoring: Cleanliness 🫧🫧🫧🫧 Durability 💪💪💪 Value for Price 🪙🪙🪙🪙 Repairability 🪚🪚 Utility 🦺🦺🦺🦺🦺🙂 Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ Pros ✅ - Great filter set overall. - Three different stages for filtering help remove the debris and sandy materials from the syrup.❌ Cons ❌ - The set itself doesn’t come with a great way to hold up the mesh & other filters when pouring.

What a great set of filters needed for sap season. This is an ideal set as it includes 10 of the lightweight filters and then one of the heavy duty finishing filter. For those of you who process maple sap into maple syrup - this finishing filter is a must have if you want to keep your syrup clear. This set is a great deal with both types included, plus a netting type filter as well. One tip - I always add a lightweight filter or two in the heavy duty one, to help keep it from getting too much maple sand in it -and with 10 in this set, you'll have plenty for a home owner's season. I tap 7 trees every spring, and was happy to find this set to replace my well used filters. I'm thinking of picking up a second set to have on hand. As you can see, they are shipped very nicely, and also include a how to use (if you're a first time maple syrup maker). Enjoy!!
