The tension spring is stronger than ones I had previously owned. The jaws seem to have a better design to keep from bending in half, which was a common problem with previous purchases. The week area appears to be the rubber covers. They are very thin and I think they will tear with use. Very little use so far on a trickle charger so no problem.

The insulating covers come off right away. I secured mine with electrical tape. No hardware for wire installation, but the clamps and spring seem to be of good quality. Overall just O.K.

See photos. When shopping for things like these, I often pull up several similar items, and I think I thought I was ordering another clip style that had a semi-rolled-in jaw, that would make more contact surface with the battery terminals, but I don't see the images in this product's description that I remember seeing while shopping. Must have been a different item. Nevertheless, these should work fine. I chose these over a less expensive 50A version because the protective cover -- which I THOUGHT was a hard plastic but turns out is a thin rubbery flexible boot -- on these goes almost all the way to the tip of the jaw, which seems would help prevent accidental shorts. I don't know that they'd actually handle a hundred amps, but they definitely are about 20% larger than the ones on my 6 amp vintage battery charger (which itself looks to have the 50-amp version of this clip, but in steel instead of copper) so I'd not be worried about pushing 20 amps through them if needed. Maybe 100 is okay, but I have nothing that needs that kind of draw anyway (the intent was to use these for powering ham radios by temporary connection to e.g. a car battery).

I LIVE WHERE MY PATIO HAS A VERY LARGE OFF-SIDE UMBRELLA AND THE HOUSE FACES EAST. THE BACK OF THE HOUSE GETS STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. HOOKING BUNGIE CORDS TO THE CANAPOY RIBS AND THE OFF-SIDE POLE STABILIZE THE UMBRELLA. I USE THESE SMALL CLAMPS TO STOP THE BUNGIE CORDS FROM SLINDING UP THE CANOPY RIBS.

These are cheap, and they're inexpensive. So if that's what you want (and I *did*) they they're a good choice. I use them for battery chargers, NOT for jump starting.I had a pair of clips melt recently, because while there were two metal jaws the spring between them was held in a plastic handle and hinge. These are all metal. They have bendable tabs to hold your wire and provide some strain relief, but you'll want to solder the wires in place.

Very happy with the quality of these clamps. Very strong and feels heavy duty.It is well worth the little extra that it costs.
