I would not trust this stand to actually hold 500+ lbs for any real length of time. However, it comfortably holds half that weight. The parts fit together a bit roughly, but securely enough to not fall down. The method of attaching the bottom leg section guarantees that the joint will be loose. It won't fail, but it makes the whole stand feel much less stable. Fortunately, I have other uses for this stand. If I add another aquarium, I think I will build my own stand rather than trust to cheap commercial products.

This will not hold 20 gallon rimmed tanks. The glass on the bottom of the tank sits on the brackets that are supposed to keep the tank on the stand. I understand that you get what you pay for, but this is cheaply made and the parts do not align correctly when putting together. Several of the bolt holes were misaligned so the bolts wouldn't even fit to hold it together. Once I finally got it put together it was not level and completely out of square. I Would not recommend that anyone purchase this product.

I generally do good research on products before I order them so 4 and 5 star reviews are common from me. For me to rate something below 4 stars it must have serious issues living up to my realistic expectations. So I ordered this 20 Gallon Fish Tank Stand to hold my 20 Gallon terrarium. So not a difficult use for something meant to hold the weight of 20 Gallons of water. Why 2 stars?I have 4 decades of experience building things like this and very rarely have any issues even with poor instructions. The instructions are so bad with this one that it took 3 of us to finally figure it out. For example, the instructions reference 3 different sized bolts, small, medium and large. We only got 2 different sized ones, I compared every single one and there are only two sizes. The production quality is very poor. Approx 1/3 of the parts fit poorly to the point that you can see gaps and misalignments in the end product. My wife and my daughter were the first two to attempt to build this and I teased them a bit listening to their struggles, just a little 8-) but once they both gave up I said i'd save the day thinking I would get it built just fine. I did, but not just fine, doesn't look great with all of the production quality issues and I had to admit that the instruction really did suck. Can't recommend this one unless they improve the instructions and the quality issues.I will update this review if anything changes within 1 year. A 5-star rating indicates the product meets my expectations for its purpose.
