I loved the marbles, unfortunately they weren’t the size I needed so I couldn’t really use them. The colors was nice they all were bright and stood out. Not for children under 3.

My wife got a cool old Chinese checker board and wanted me to get some marbles for it. So I got these. There are a lot of marbles for a really good price, but only four colors. That will be plenty for us as there are the two of us that will be playing, probably. They are cool to look at and these cat eye marbles make me pretty nostalgic for my youth. If you just want them to look at, they are pretty cool. They are adequate for games where they are used as markers. The sizes aren't very uniform, so they wouldn't be all that great for actual playing marbles.

Yeah! More toys for the littles! Then again, I may use them in a vase before the grands can see them. 😊 I can be sneaky like that!A few weeks ago one of the grown up littles dropped in with his three-year old who promptly ran to the toys. After glancing through them he mumbled something under his breath like same old stuff. WOW. Evidently we have fallen behind in our responsibilities. 😊 Actually, it’s true. We got stuff when the littles started coming along and now there are eight local littles under eight. We realized that we really did not have toys that work as the littles are getting bigger so we are currently dividing out the toys and have sets that are safe for the still-slimy-littles, (which are probably not done showing up), and a new toy box we are putting things for the littles who are getting older. We want them to use their imaginations, intelligence and dexterity.Kids can turn any object into lots of other items. Boxes can be cars, buildings, chairs, refrigerators, or even, umm, boxes. Blocks can turn into fortresses, houses, buildings, bridges, roads, trains, phones, puppies and just about anything else. Marbles can be cars, balls, wheels, place holders, game pieces, or anything else.I did not open the package of marbles. I think if I do, they will end up in a vase and become mine forever. 😊 Littles often like to be the first one to open something. Especially if you have lots of siblings. The three-year-old that was unhappy with our toy selection is the third out of four boys in that family. He has great parents but I am sure he would still love to be first at a few things.Anyway, for now, the marbles will go unopened in the new large toybox. I am looking forward to the kids discovering all the new stuff! As to the marbles – they are ‘marble-sized’ glass marbles. When I was growing up with all my brothers, (boys run in our family), we called this type of marble ‘cat-eyes’. They were the most common type of marble and probably the best ones to start to play with. Maybe Gramps will get on the floor and teach some of the littles a few games. That would be fun to watch!
