I believe with this you wouldn't use a vacuum, but rather you would cool this glass piece while the other side of the setup was moderately heated thus causing a pressure differential and pulling the vapors over to this? I'm just an amateur chemist so this is just me guessing. I cant imagine it would be incredibly efficient in the way I'm theorizing. Maybe running a vacuum in the middle somewhere and sealing it off with a valve (like a schlenk line) could allow for more heat on the other side without risk of an explosion/cracked glassware. On second thought, if you had say a 2 or 3 neck collection flask you could run a second cold trap off of that with a vacuum line and that would allow it to work normally. Perhaps this is a first cold trap meant to be used with multiple.

Okay this was bought for my glassware, but I have no idea how to use it without a vacuum port to my Robinair vacuum. So I need to find this out or it is an expensive paperweight.
