Single sponges definitely work well but it’s a lot of moving pieces. It’s be lovely if they came as a perforated sheet.

IMAGE AND DESCRIPTION NOT ACCURATE. TINY.Much smaller than expected. NOT SQUARE, more of a triangle with very small bottom, so they fall over even in tiny cubes because so much smaller than the cube. Will not repurchase.

These work great and they are biodegradable, unlike the sponges that most of the growing systems come with.

Bought two different kinds at the same time. The others worked much better.

These little cubes worked fine for me for starting my lettuce and kale seeds. I soaked them for an hour and then put them in a seed holder with water tray and you can see the results.

I really enjoy growing vegetables and other plants hydroponically. I go through a lot of grow sponges, and so this set of 100 pack is a great value. These grow sponges are 2.5 inches and have a pretty deep seed hole, which could also be used for cuttings as well. They have good porosity and water retention. I just got a 50 space hydroponic grower, so I am excited to try these sponges.

If you like this type of grow sponges, you won't be disappointed with these. They are similar to any others I have used. With a bag of 100, I have enough to last a long long time.I use a sharp awl to cut through the sponges from top to bottom without having them fall apart. It gives the seeds a much easier path for their roots.
