Wanted to show a coupl color variations. Love the paper and the price is great. Wear latex glove if using your finger to blend its a little scratchy.

I was surprised and pleased at how sturdy the substrate is- very nice- and it won't curl like UArt does. My go-to sanded surface was Wallis, of course, and I'd buy roll-ends fro directly from Kitty, but once my last roll-end was gone after 2021 or so, I had to find another ground. Used UArt, mostly, with PastelMat coming in second (too expensive for not-Wallis). Then I read about Lux and looked at it longingly, but the price seems high. Noticed here on Amazon a few papers coming from Asia that said they were a sanded surface, so I took a chance on this one.It *is* textured, although I don't believe this is *sanded* so much as a textured plasticky slurry sprayed on (rather like Art Spectrum, but rougher in texture); it is deeply textured, but, that texture is like orange peel wall texture, and the pastel- no matter how soft- goes onto the surface in a dry-brush watercolor technique appearance; it does not go *into* the, often large, depressions in the textured surface unless you finger (or stump) blend.So it is great for blenders, and likely works well for those who use underpaintings. I prefer to work directly, though, and allow the layers to build up and blend themselves (I find finger or stump blending compacts the crystalline structure of pastels, leading to a somewhat flat-appearance).It is a nice surface for loose work, and I can see a use for it when working out a value-led composition.But I wish the surface was more uniform, less slap-dashed-heights.Perhaps the manufacturers can find a way to fix this issue.

Fairly heavy weight paper with close to 400 grit sanded. Holds a lot of layers. Ripples a bit just from it’s weight. Bought the taupe color. Worth the price but not the wait if you’re in a hurry….slow boat from China. Revised: don’t like the way this paper holds the pastel

Sanded surface papers are expensive, but there isn't any point to practicing on a non-sanded surface in order to be ready to use professional grade sanded paper. Thanks to the size and dimensions of this paper, I can fold it in half and use each sheet for two practice pastel paintings. It is very similar to using Art Spectrum Colourfix paper, pleasant to use. *Update* I used this paper for a sketching project (book demo) with Rembrandt pastels, a brand I've previously disliked for being difficult to layer without blending. It's a perfect match! Easy to get the colors on without being heavy-handed, and the paper color does make the pastel colors pop. Upgrading to 5 stars, as this doesn't claim to be made for professional artists and is reasonably priced.

I love it. It takes wet underpainting with either alcohol or water beautifully without warping. Strong, sturdy paper with a beautiful mid tone color. It takes layer upon layer upon layer without the tooth filling.

I thought there were varieties of colors in 1 package, but ended up only sand color. It was the best paper that I had ever used for soft pastel. Good quality and not too rough.
