After using this file for about 6 months, here is an honest opinion of this kit. It contains everything you could possibly need, but the items themselves are cheap and not very well make.1) The teeth on the round and flat files are not sharp, so it does not file very well. You need more strokes than necessary, you are better off with a good quality round file of the right diameter from the hardware store.2) The alignment tool is not very good, and the file does not stay in it properly. I ended up not using it.3) The wooden handle of the file keeps slipping off, so not very useful. I used the file without it.Basically, the flat and round file are the key tools, the rest is "fluff" so if you just buy two good files, you are all set.

I feel like for the price it's a really good tool. I've never used a hand sharpener before just a powered one. This is easier and quicker than my power sharpener and I think it even sharpens a little bit better which really surprised me. Especially my first sharpen.

I was a bit sceptical at first, but after watching some YouTube videos on how to sharpen chainsaw chains manually, I thought I'd give it a go instead of buying a new chain while the current one was absolutely fine, minus the blunt blades. The kit is very nice, thick cloth bag for storage, and everything you need to sharpen a chainsaw chain. While the paper instructions were ok, you really have to see a video to get the technique right. After some practice, I was able to get the chainsaw blade from completely blunt and not cutting anything, to extremely sharp that it cut like brand new! I admit it took about 40 mins to practice the technique, then a further 25 mins or so to get the chainsaw blades as I wanted them.Videos say that you only need to make 4 strokes of the file on each blade, but if your blades are completely blunt, I recommend at least 10-15 strokes per blade. (FYI don't forget to file the depth guides as well. If you only sharpen the blades, it will not cut because depth guides are touching the wood, not the blades)Excellent product, great price, can't argue.

A must set of tools if you have a chainsaw. I have always sharpened my own chainsaws. My chainsaw was stolen from my shed alone with my sharpening file. My son bought a new saw and needed his saw sharpened. He knew I could do it and thought I still had my files. Well since my files were stolen and I couldn't find a file to use I thought I'd just take it in to be sharpened. Took his saw in and it turned out to be $7 for just the chain or $15 with the chain on the saw. Well this is crazy. It's not that hard to do and a set of files is as much as one sharpening. I ordered this set of tools. The guide is very nice. Easier to use than my old set of files. I really like the clamp on system that allows you to swap files to the size teeth you have on your chain. Took me all of the drive to the hardware store and back to sharpen his saw. 15 min's. This set has all the tools and guides you need to put a great edge on your chain and keep your chain sharp. The pouch keeps all the tools in place so you can keep all your tools with you when your in the field or in your back yard. After I gave my son his saw and he had used it he told me. It's sharp like it was new again. I told him, Yea, I sharpened it. I gave him this set of tools and will order me my own set. Yes you need this set for you saw.
