Ring battery operated doorbell cameras can't operate on 12vdc, and Ring doesn't make a non-battery version that works on 12vdc. You could buy a Ring solar panel surround for your battery operated doorbell, but if it is under an overhang that isn't going to work. I took one of these and tapped into my 12vdc intercom/doorbell power and now trickle charge my Ring battery operated doorbell camera by having it provide 5.2vdc to the terminals on the back of the camera where the solar panel normally ties in. This is very stable voltage, low power consumption, low heat generation, and keeps the battery topped up. Inexpensive solution.

It has reverse input protection for couple sec until it gets too hot!

Tried several of these with a 36v source and they would randomly shut off. Upon further review i see the Schottky diode is rated for 40v which according to the lm2596 datasheet, would limit input voltage to 32 volts. Seems to work ok with lower source voltages, just not the 40v advertised.

All five units work as expected without issues. It would have been nice to have screw-in wire terminals but I knew that before purchase.

I've been using these for some electronic projects and they've been working wonderfully. They're not too big, they're easily adjustable and they didn't break the bank.

Found these to work well and was able to adjust the voltage as expected. You have to turn the potentiometer a lot to make adjustments
