The router bit says in the description that it is 1/4” but doesn’t not fit my1/4” router. The bit is actually 0.235”. Kit also doesn’t come with a guide bearing. Had to buy it separately

Looks like I will have to buy a custome base plate to get the ring to fit and the 1/4” router bit won’t tighten in my 1/4” router?? Not so happy.

Perfect template extremely happy with the results I used it on live edge lumber to fix a crack and the router bit held up greatly

I have not had the opportunity to actually use these yet, but they are exceptionally well-made. The template material is generously thick to resist breakage. The markings are very clear and engraved rather than just painted on. The template size range is so much more than I'd ever use, so I know that when the time comes it will meet the need. Comes with everything needed to use this with my router. The price is about right for what it is, it's a good value. I'd purchase again.

This is a well made and functional router template for cutting inlays. It works very well and is just about universally compatible with most routers. A good value at the price point.

This is one of the more expensive bow tie jigs on Amazon and it doesn’t come with the bushing you need to cut bow ties. It can cut the recesses the bow ties slip in to, but you have to buy another part to cut the bow ties.

The template doesn't give any detail on how to use it, so I had to figure it out. You need to use a router with an inlay guide bushing and cut out the socket bowtie, then use a larger bowtie template to make the filler. The combination approach means the largest sizes are only filler pieces and the smaller ones only sockets due to the offsets needed.

I've been looking to get into some inlay with my woodworking and bowties are both functional and decorative, so why not give them a shot?I did have to purchase a separate template guide kit for my Bosch router, which set me back a few bucks, but opens up a world of new opportunities. I have a couple of other router templates, but this is my first time using one with a template guide.I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll need some more practice. The hard part was keeping my hands steady and following the edges of the template without any deviation to create the inlay piece. Hogging out the groove for the inlay piece is super easy as long as you double-stick tape the template really securely to your workpiece. It's possible to cheat by using a bit of sawdust and glue as wood filler if the gap is small enough, but I'm still determined to perfect my skills with this someday. If you're thinking of buying this, you probably already know what I'm about to say, but it might be worth mentioning that you always want to rout your groove slightly shallow so that your inlay piece sits proud and can be sanded/pared down flush. It's also a good idea to chamfer the edge of the inlay piece on the bottom so that it fits into the groove easier and provides the excess glue a place to go.So what's the verdict? It's fantastic. The template arrived with no scratches or rough edges. It's thicker than I expected (about 5/16"). It has a great variety of sizes to choose from and the shape of the bowties is very aesthetically pleasing. I'm sure I'll goof up someday and eat into the side of one of these templates because I forgot to check my bit depth (don't ask how I know this), but that's just me being dumb. The template itself is amazing and you won't be disappointed with it.

This is a 10-in-1 clear acrylic router template designed specifically for dovetail inlays. I work with some larger pieces of desk wood, and if there are any superficial cracks these can in the settling process split or break the wood up. I use contracting pieces of "false" dovetails to hold the separate pieces together in a way that actually increases the appeal (hence the contrasting colors instead of trying to match them). This strengthens the bond, and in fact the more the wood tries to break apart the tighter the dovetail becomes. These are perfect for that, or to cut dovetails for other applications as well. Basically you just use a router bit with a flush top, push your bit in, and let the rotating flush bearing roll along the acrylic. And since there are so many different sizes here you really can't go wrong. For the dovetail piece itself, I just trace the inside of the corresponding acrylic dovetail, and then cut on the outside of the line. If you do it right you'll have a dovetail that is BARELY too large for the hole (a little more than a pencil length). This allows you to hammer it in with a soft faced mallet and have it stay secure for planing (use glue anyway, never hurts). Really quality, crystal clear acrylic with precisely cut dovetails. Enjoy making...

This 10-in-1 butterfly (bow tie) inlay router template is actually 9/32" thick, so it is nice and sturdy and made of a rigid clear acrylic. It is as described and everything is labeled, although the labeling is only etched into the acrylic, so it is clear labeling rather than being black lettering like it appears in the pictures. It does not come with any instructions, but if one has an inlay kit and has done inlays before then this template will be no different.
