After attempting numerous bits that did absolutely nothing. I was able to drill through a half inch piece of solid steel. With a cordless drill and it wasn't even a challenge for it very very good product

Only worked on 1 tie rod and lost the straightness just doing that 1. Now it’s curved and dull which is absurd on just 1 part of 1 use for the price.

A ball joint reamer is one of the few tools I didn't have in my arsenal, and since I occasionally have reason to work on ball joints, I decided to pick this up and give it a whirl. The one thing I noticed is that the machine work on the actual unit isn't QUITE as good in person. In places, there are obvious imperfections in the blade edge. But, that having been said, if opening up a ball joint hole a bit was an exact science, they would demand it be done with a Bridgeport CNC milling machine. Instead, they sell it as a tool you stick in the chuck of your drill and then you fire away at it. So, I get that "ultimate precision" isn't necessarily a prerequisite for a reamer like this. But I would still like to see a bit more precision in the cutting edge, as it can only help the tool last longer. The steel this is made of, 6542, is actually a good steel for the intended use. I'm not usually impressed with steel choices some manufacturers make, but in this case, they seem to have picked a good one. If you ever have to sharpen and then re-heat treat this, here is the quench/heat treat information for 6542 steel:Hardening Temperature:1180-1220℃Quenching Medium:oil&salt bathTempering Temperature:540-560℃Tempering Times:3 timesTempering Hardness:63-65HRCIn all, given its purpose and intended use, I'm sure if I keep it lubricated and cool (big key!), it should last for quite a few jobs. And if for some reason it goes dull, I'll re-sharpen and re-harden it.

Not bad for the money but weak and will break if not careful.

Used it to ream out the taper on a pitman to fit a larger sized heavy duty drag link/tie rod end. At first, the reamer didn't seem to work properly, because the inner taper was too smooth, it wouldn't dig in and cut.I used a step drill to get started, then it started cutting smooth like buttah. Take your time and sneak up on it for a perfect fit.
