After extensively troubleshooting my application, I finally determined that this thing wasn't encoding 1024 pulses per revolution. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 975.25 P/R for the one I received. That gives a quadrature value of 3901, which is as close as I could get to having it actually measure one revolution accurately. There was still a small amount of drift over hundreds of revolutions. I haven't opened it up, but I suspect the optical surface markings aren't uniform. Impossible to use with any level of precision.

Works Perfectly as long as the power is over 5 volts, but if you are powering it from an Arduino, the voltage may be below 5 volts and it just won't work, 4.8 volts no 5 volts yes.

Using this encode as a learning tool. The feed back to my PLC is not very good (responsive).
