I bought this nutcracker for the sole purpose of opening sparkling water bottles that are impossible to open by hand. I had tried rubber grips, pliers, knives, scissors, etc. I heard about this nifty use, bought the Nutcracker, and it works perfectly!

This nutcracker works best with larger nuts. Tricky to use with pecans and smaller nuts. Really like the handles, good leverage.
