In the example above backer rod is used where the radon pipe enters the floor before caulk is applied. 1" backer rod is perfect for filling gaps 3/4" to 1-1/8" wide. Sold in 25 foot lengths.

These 25 ft rolls are dirt cheap and fill a lot of volume. Bigger and cheaper than any backer rod I could find at home depot.I used together with Sikaflex self levelling sealant which is great stuff, but really expensive per tube. This helps you minimize your usage of it, and to ensure the rod doesn't float up in a wider crack. The backer rod helped keep my project cost down by about half of what a sealant only solution would have been, and probably ~$15 less than if I used more of the small rod options available at HD. The results came out beautifully.

Great for filling in gap around easement space between sidewalk..or driveway. None of big box stores had the 1” size. Worked perfect ! Glad it’s the larger size had lots left over too..which is helpful other areas that need filled in

This backer rod is part of my sidewalk expansion joint replacement. Pulled the old, rotting wood, filled the crevice with paver sand to 1.5 inches from the top. Tamped it down and leveled with a piece of 1.5 inch wood. Laid this backer rod on top of the sand, which fit tightly and sealed against the cement. The backer rod also reduces the amount of sealant caulk needed. Ideal depth is about 1/2 inch of this self leveling sealant. End result is shown. The local blue and orange stores did not carry the 1 inch backer rod, but this shipped quickly at a very reasonable cost. It is the density needed for this job and cuts easily with ordinary scissors. Don’t settle for the more common 3/4 inch, which may not yield a tight seal essential for SSL caulk.Highly recommended

Product arrived ahead of schedule, but was in two pieces, while one continuous piece was preferable. An extra foot of material was provided. Material on one piece had been crushed/dented, which did not resolve following unboxing. As filler material it is fine.

I had a few crevasses on my driveway I wanted to fill with cement. Using this together with cement did the trick.

The tubing was used to increase effectiveness of a roll up garage door bottom seal, that had flattened from years of use. This fix was recommended by a professional garage door installer. The original seal tubing had flattened, causing areas of rain leakage. The Backer rod tubing was pushed through the flattened bottom seal to "reinflate" the tubing enough to form an effective water barrier. The material was soft and flexible enough to form a tight seal against the garage door slab.Completely unrelated to the product quality itself, was difficulty encountered when working thetubing through the original seal tube. It must be noted that the use of this product was not for an approved application, so the product was never at fault. This product can be used for the application for which it was purchased, but note that installation difficulty may be encountered. This product is best used for its intended applications.
