--BUTTON FUNCTION
zero button: short press for power on, long press 3 seconds for zero setting.
in/mm button: short press for inch/metric conversion in the power-on state.
--INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: check and cleaning
1. Before using, press the cutter shaft a few times to check whether the slide is smooth.
2. Wipe the bottom of the tool setting tool with a clean and soft cotton cloth and the zero base surface.
3. Wipe the workbench or workpiece.
Step 2: Zero
1. Flip over the device, and make the top surface of the device touch the surface of the worktable or workpiece.
2. Long press the zero button to reset the position to 0.
Step 3: Operation
Fix the device on the worktable, conduct the cutting tools, and chuck towards the measuring face until 0 points, in the meantime, the LED lights up, which means the“0” position has been set.

I ordered the metric dial version. It is trash. The internal mechanism is crunchy and binds up when partway through range of motion. The dial plunger got stuck part way up and would not return to zero. I am going to return it for a refund and buy a different brand that is hopefully not defective. I will not be buying from this brand again.

I got it to be use with my Haas CNC mill and the accuracy is great and my tolerances have improved a lot.

When the unit is powered on the zero will need to be set. 50mm is the top surface or you can set at 2" with 123 BLOCKS etc. The only problem is that the setter powers down after 10 minutes idle time. When turned back on it will need to be re-zeroed. No absolute memory like most digital calipers etc.

The model I received on 4/13/23 remembers the zero setting after power off - unlike previous reviewer stated. ALSO - after extensive calibration for precise zero on metals, my unit calibrated to 1.969" offset... which is exactly 50mm. I've never had a tool setter calibrate to its STATED offset exactly. But... this one did. I've only had it for a few days and if it lasts six months or more, I will order one for each of my milling machines to replace the dial type setter.
