I have used these washers on a 1/2 inch axle to keep the wheels on a two wheeler when there is very little room at the end of the axle. They do the job very well and don't slide off the axle. In fact when it is time to change the wheel I can't slide the washer off. I have to pry up on it and use a side cutter to tear it off. I have also used pushnut washers on 5/8 inch axles and they too work very well.
