My $400+ forney started to smoke out of the fan one day, so I called them and all they had to say was “sounds like the mother boards fried” “we have refurbished ones online” (it was not even 3 years old) so I was stick welding under my jeep xj (don’t have patience for mig) and I couldn’t stop now. Really wanted the Eastwood 180mp but I needed it fast and I didn’t have enough for that anyway. One of the cheapest on Amazon, from a name you can trust (or pronounce at least) and it really blew me away. So much easier to use, set up, and everything. All around great machine… if you need a stick welder and don’t want to pay “big showroom prices” lol get this thing. The “hot start” and “arc force” settings (I thought were dumb originally) really let you fine tune whatever stick your burning. Ran 6013, 7018 like butter. REALLY GREAT LITTLE BOX. (I had purchased a new electrode holder+ Different ground clamps and thicker gauge wire; 1/0for my Forney before it burned out and put them to use on this so I don’t know if that’s why I had optimal welds, or it’s just a Jim-dandy groovy little box. Probably the latter, because the cables that came with it are two gauges bigger and much nicer quality then my almost $500 welder was….pardon the rant but I couldn’t believe my eyes after a few days welding with this. The POWER is there; even went up more then 35-40 more amps then my 140mp paperweight…….

I'm used to welding with "professional" welders in the $5000 price range so I actually was surprised and laughed abit when this thing did just as good strike up and running a bead. Will it last a day welding professionally day after day, likely not but for the price you can't expect it too. For some welding here and there and it's extreme portability, it's a pretty amazing little welder.

This is my 9th welder. I have name brand welders costing over 6500.00. This is a little fire-fly compared to the large MIG/TIG/Stick machines that go up to many hundreds of amps; but, this one runs on 120 Vac and is smaller than a shoe box. I find it runs a little cooler for the same amperage as my other welders; but, the 135 amps will run 1/8 inch rod at at its highest setting. The weld looks good and is burned in well. I have other slightly larger 120/240 volt machines with a handle that are a little larger and go up to 200 amps and cost around 135 to 165.00. I bought this one because I can stick weld almost anything and it was only about 56.00. This machine fits easily in my car for small jobs away from home.

It really likes 3/32” 6013, pretty decent on 3/32” 7018, 6011 is a bit of a struggle, tried1/16” 6013 for getting in some tight spots, it really sizzles. I don’t have 240 where this is located, all welding on 110

This is a fantastic welder for those with little, or no, experience with welding. It is light weight, simple to set up and start welding. Given I had no experience with welding but was able to do decent welding with this machine within the first day or two, I would have to say that the machine operates very well. 110% happy with this purchase and the 2 day delivery times was outstanding!

Have used this quite a few times over several months. It has worked as intended. When I need to do a few simple welds, it beats dragging out the mig welder. As some other reviewers have pointed out, it will trip the breaker on 115 volt circuit if the amp setting is set to a higher level. In my case, this was around the 75-80amp range. Using an adapter and 220 volt source, I was able to use the full amp settings available for the machine. It's well built, lightweight, and easy to use. The lengh of the work cables is good and they are flexible. The price is one to run towards, not away.

With a coupon available during checkout, I only paid $60 and change for this welder! I grew up using a stick welder, and really enjoyed it. Been dabbling with Mig and will be learning Tig down the road (after I purchase one, but with only a short time playing with this stick welder (running on the 220v), I really enjoyed it and it was able to get a good, solid and deep weld. This will be used for pleasure and on the homestead for maintenance and repairs...and also to make some creative jigs that will work with my automotive lift. For the price-point, this is a great welder, for the beginner, and also for the home shop that does not require top-notch x-ray inspected welds! Yes, you usually get what you pay for, but with this purchase, I got way more than what I paid for it! If you are on the fence about getting this for home/hobby/home-shop use, just do it! You will not be disappointed!Just as an FYI, I did choose to spend the $13 to get the 4 year extended service plan, just in case. I thought that for that low price, if it would go down anytime in the next 4 years, I will be fully compensated and have the cash to get another one or upgrade to the next level (but I doubt that I will need an upgrade).Buy it...play with it...and enjoy it!

I have to admit that I was very skeptical about a welder that was a hundred bucks. I have been a welder for more than 20 yrs. Welding is how I make a living , I AM NOT A BEGINNER. With that being said I am very impressed the way this thing has preformed. I used it to do a small project for my welding business. It has already paid for itself in one job. I did have an issue with it throwing a 15 amp breaker on 110v with a 100’ cord , it did not have a problem at all with a 50’ cord or while on a 50amp breakers on 220v with a 100’ cord.My only issue was starting the arc with a 3/32”7018 on 110v.While on 220v it started and welded better but welding on 110v is still pretty good.Overall I am EXTREMELY impressed with this little welder and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to start welding or someone who wants a very portable little unitI did Tig weld with it and it did great using 3/32” 70S2

I've had the welder for a couple weeks and today was the first time using it, it's the best hundred dollars I have ever spent on tooling and equipment. My current welder is a Miller Thunderbolt 220V AC welder, it limits what kind of rod you can use, once set up it works pretty good, but I really wanted to be able to weld with 7018 and the Miller doesn't like it and it don't like the Miller. That's reason I purchased this welder, it runs on either 110V or 220V, very portable and easy to setup. I used 3/32 6013 to place my tack welds and finished out with 3/32 7018, I set the machine on 115 amps and nice easy starting stable arc, it welds as good as much bigger more expensive machines weld, I have some overhead coming up and some sidehill, it is no longer a worry. If someone had said it would weld this well, I had my doubts, I am now a believer and user. I fully recommend this machine, I'm a 71 year old retired powerhouse mechanic, certified all position structural welder, like I said as good as any machine I have welded with.

If you want a garage welder then you found the one.Pros: Very cheap, very light, very small, quiet (relative to others), runs very well on 120! 240 is the cherry on top. There’s one knob, you cant do it wrong.Cons: This won’t do well with sticks > 1/8th.Disclaimer: haven’t tried stainless or aluminum sticks. This welder is for iron thinner than 1/4” (not including, but smaller than). I have found you can get great penetration on 1/4” steel but you need to spend more time (and money on discs/fuel) to bevel everything and preheat the steel if you want adequate penetration. Everything under 1/4” with 1/8” rods or small work wonders.1/16th rods on sheet metal are insane. You can literally set the rod down, flat on the table, with an arc and it will run the rod itself and weld your sheet metal. Even on the low end of the amp range. If you need a little welder for your garage or something that will run off a cheap extension cord way too far away for some random part you need a quick repair on, but this. You won’t be disappointed.
