The tool works on solid wire but occasionally damages the sheathing when holding the other side with pliers.Forget about stranded wire...it doesn't work at all without damage to the sheathing being held with pliers.I would not recommend using it at all if wires are already cut to size and in a box.

Great little gizmo for bundling wires into neat connections - works with your drill motor. This item seems to be shipped one at a time from mainland China and it takes at least two weeks to arrive - so plan well ahead if you want one of these.

I bought this to make wire handcuffs for my wife during our sex games. She loved them, they were just tight enough to hurt but did not cut off blood flow!
