this was for my work, we have had several through the years, they usually leak or something breaks on them, we have had this for over a year of daily use (I waited to do the review), and it has held up well.It is easy to clean, no issues, a great purchase and fair price.

West Bend has been getting a lot of flack just like a lot of major brand names do as they ride off their brand name reputation while making cheap products, but for what this little urn does with its basic feature with no bells and whistles, It does the trick for me which is to make loads of coffee. And that's all that really matters.I started off doing a ton of research reading all reviews for coffee urns and even getting those with temperature controls, the see-through window and all of that jazz. But at the end of the day I just need something with no frills and less to fix or spend.I highly recommend getting a basic 2-3 feet black extension cord that is a single socket without all the bulky extra outlets. The cord is way too short, and you want to be able to be safe with washing the urn without the plug falling in the sink, or having too short a cord to reach an outlet.

Good price; metal is a little flimsy but that is what you get for cheaper coffee urn. I have used it several times and works well. It quickly brews a large urn and coffee tastes good.

Every morning at work, I made a fresh large pot of coffee in the traditional coffeemaker. When I came back to get a cup ten minutes later, the dudes in my department had taken the entire thing. The WHOLE thing. Every day. So I decided to get something that wouldn't run out. I usually fill it about half full. Do NOT use any sort of filter! You don't need it and it will not work at all with a filter. As the directions say, if the coffee seems to sift out of the basket, just wet the basket before adding the ground coffee. One thing I really like about this appliance is that it keeps coffee a bit hotter than glass carafes.

The make has been used several times for church functions and it works well. It even has a small insert to show how much coffee to add for different numbers of cups. A full pot needed about 35 minutes to complete.

I needed this coffee percolator/urn for just one event, so I didn’t want to spend a lot. This coffee urn seemed like the best in its price range. The spigot is too low to fit paper hot drink cups under the spigot. There is an advantage: you are able to drain more coffee out of the urn without tipping it towards you, since the spigot is placed low on the urn.But this posed a dilemma- If we put the urn on the edge of the counter, where guests had room to place a hot cup under the spigot, we risked guests touching the hot exterior of the urn and burning themselves, or, worse, tipping the urn over and spilling scalding coffee on themselves and others. The lid is locked, but not tightly, and all the coffee could easily spill from a tipped urn (which is normal for all urns.)So I put the urn on a wooden box that I had used to display items at a conference years ago. As you can see in the photo, the box solved our problem. Everyone safely enjoyed the coffee, and we had a great brunch event. The urn is easy to use and clean. You don’t need paper filters. The basket has fill lines for coffee so you know how much coffee to use for different numbers of cups. One caveat is that I found the coffee made to the levels marked on the basket was a bit weak for my taste. I like a string cup of coffee, so next time I would add a bit more than the recommended amount of coffee.

We got this for our team event. On its very first use, it started leaking profusely when the coffee was getting hot. It stained the carpet very nicely - not! So if you have light-colored carpet, beware of this West Bend coffee urn. Luckily one of the parents saw the leak and notified us before the whole pot (100 cups) would empty out on the floor. The see-through coffee gauge tube was not properly installed by West Bend and sprung a big leak at the base of the gauge tube - Look at the nice stream of coffee in attached picture. That was BAD DESIGN and BAD QA!We should have believed the reviews going back to 2015 with similar problems. It seems that West Bend hasn't figured out how to fix the problem or they don't care enough about the 10% of the reviews being 1-star. So take your chances folks, maybe 1 in 10 customers may get lucky and end up with a $100 carpet stainer or luckier yet get a trip to to the hospital for burns. Gee-whiz!!!Another BAD DESIGN: the spigot is directly above the on/off switches so there's a chance someone may be burned and get electrical shock trying to turn it off while all that hot liquid spills onto the hand!We were lucky no one was burned or electrocuted!SUMMARY: this urn can stain carpet, burn your hands, may give you an electrical shock, squirt coffee on your nice cloths but it doesn't make coffee! We will STAY AWAY from this West Bend model. We want enjoy coffee not mopping the floor or staining the carpet!Needless today, we are returning this West Bend carpet stainer!

So before using this product, i was using a standard 12-cup drip. My spouse and I drink A LOT of coffee in the day, as we own a business out of our home. I was making coffee probably 3-5 times a day and i will say it was quite tedious. So when our old one broke down, we bought this one in an effort to not make coffee so much. I'm sure the purists will not like me for this, but i make coffee now once a day and it is good (to us two) until the very last cup of coffee, which usually does start to not taste as good, but the rest of the coffee is great. Every morning, i make coffee once and it lasts until the next morning. It does actually keep the coffee hotter than our last standard 12-cup coffee maker. And our coffee area has been SO clean since we got this from not having to constantly make coffee. Plus we go through less coffee ingredients now (sugar, creamer, coffee). i usually put 1.5 cups of ground coffee in this. i am in love with this machine! Will buy again if/when it kicks the bucket, that's for sure. For our purposes and our context, this machine has been a huge improvement over the standard 12-cup, worth the extra you spend on it. It takes about 20-30 minutes to brew, really not a big deal considering it's good for the whole entire day.
