I didn't realize that I really wanted 8 inch dividers. Other than that, there is one spot where the finish is glaringly defective. I decided to keep it, but it bugs me. Some inspector just decided that "You can't see it from my house", which leaves a bad feeling. Otherwise a good tool.

I was given to understand that all Weems & Plath dividers have their company moniker engraved on one of the stainless steel arms, indeed I have another pair of W&P with precisely that! These feel flimsy, are smaller than the usual size of dividers and just don't seem to match the usual sturdy quality feel from W&P's products. Mind you B&H are not much better, tips don't line up etc. So search out a really decent pair of genuine navigation dividers, then when you might really need them you won't feel gripped by an appalling feeling of anxiety.Given the possible arena in which one might use these in earnest I would recommend steeering clear of these samples.

Nice dividers. Some of the reviewers found these dividers too tight or too loose. At the joint, there is a huge screw head of the type you can adjust with a dime or whatever comes to hand. You can use this screw to make the dividers tighter or looser. The dividers are made of three pieces of metal: two arms and an adjusting screw.These dividers are designed to be used with one hand. Squeeze near the top to loosen, squeeze near the points to tighten. They work.
