This does not fit a Vortex 85MM scope. Not even close. Even their website says it's for both 65 and 85MM scopes but the only possible fit would be the Razor, which is actually the smallest of the three 85MM types they offer, and only then if you removed the neoprene cover. I quote:"If you carry a Vortex® 65mm or 85mm spotting scope, straight or angled, this one case provides all the transport and storage capabilities you need to keep your spotter close and protected, at home and in the field".For the angled Viper, it's not even close. Returning this!

This spotting scope case is supposed to fit up to and including a Vortex straight 20-60×85 Viper HD spotting scope. It's not close to being large enough. I tried it without the neoprene cover that came with scope. If it was on the scope, I don't believe it would even get started going into the vortex padded carrying case. The case I guess would be just ok for smaller scopes, it doesn't have much padding. I have looked for a nice case all over, I guess I'll have to just carry the scope in a small duffle, wrapped in a towel, for protection. It's a shame to spend @$1000.00 on a spotting scope and can't find a soft padded case to fit. Vortex needs to go back and redesign a case for this model.

This item will not fit ALL Vortex scopes. My bad. I purchased this for one of my scopes thinking it would fit, only to find out that with the lens attachment, camera mod, and stand setup, it didn't fit. Fortunately, I have another Vortex scope it did fit but since that one already had a case, I now have a spare. The quality is that you would expect from a company brand, in this case Vortex. It probably wouldn't fit another brand. It seems like it would manage out in the environment just fine. My scopes get a great deal of use and are constantly being jostled around or packed over long distances. The protection is there. Since I don't have a 100% Vortex cover on my new Vortex scope it's unfair for me to comment. I can only go off of other Vortex covers I do have. And they are above and beyond. Just make sure (verify with your dealer or Vortex) that this scope cover will work. After that, and if you value your Vortex scopes, this will work.

Fits spotting scope well. Has zipper flaps that secure under tripod mounted scope with Velcro. And a zippered front that does the same. Protection when you need, out of the way when being used.

Well made padded case. I had to return mine as I bought it as a replacement for a Celestron scope of similar dimensions but it was a tad too short for my scope. The bag is made for a snug fit over a Vortex Optics Viper HD 80 scope. I could get the Celestron scope in the case but it was too tight a fit for the zipper to close at the lens end of the scope. Be sure your scope meets the dimensions of a Vortex Optics Viper scope before you buy this for your scope
