About this item

  • ▼ 【Insulation Resistance Testing】This digital Insulation Resistance Tester supports 3 different testing voltage options (250, 500 and 1000V DC) to use in meausring insulation resistance ohm from 0.1MΩ to 2GΩ with ± 4% accuracy. Display insulation resistance value specifically, not just a range.
  • ▼ 【Multi-Functional meter】Not just an mega meter , but also an electrical multimeter with 1999 counts display, which can measure AC voltage up to 750V with ±1.0% accuracy and troubleshoot continuity with buzzer.
  • ▼ 【Safe and Reliable】Designed with high voltage and short circuit buzzer alarm and anti-high voltage circuit feature, this handheld megohmmeter could be your reliable insulation measuring tool in testing heated cable and wiring insulation, like floor heating cables, thermostat and industrial generator winding etc.
  • ▼ 【Data Hold】With a sampling rate of approximately 3 times per second, this megohmmeter insulation tester provides quick and responsive measurements. The data hold function allows you to freeze the current reading on the display for easy recording. Please note that the data hold function is not available during insulation resistance measurement.
  • ▼ 【Easy to Use】Featuring with 3.5" backlight HD LCD screen and data hold button, this digital megohmmeter makes it easy to read and record the electric measurements even in low-light conditions. Nice field resistance tester for a quick electric component/motor check.

For an inexpensive megaohm tester this did what I was looking for. Our AC quit working and I wanted to check out the compressor to see if it was the problem ( I didn't want an AC repair guy to possibly tell me the compressor was bad when it wasn't and have it cost me thousands). You also need a multi-meter, but between the two I was able to verify the compressor was in great shape. I later tracked the issue to a loose connection in the fuse box and fixed it for free. I would have given it another star for better instructions, but these work just like any other and I figured it out pretty quickly. Is this a professional grade tester? No, but for occasionally testing motors and such, does the job for not a lot of money.

I'll be honest, I got this just becasue I wanted to see what one can get for less than $50 in the way of a Megger insulation tester. So, does it work?Yes. Thats the bottom line. It's the nuances that are the issue.Firstly, if you are a hobbyist and just want to check for insulation resistance, this will suit your needs. It will test three different voltages and give you a reading. As a hobbyist, thats probably all you need. You'll be able to put up with the 1000V probes that honestly don't look liike they are rated to 1000V.You'll be able to put up with the aligator clips that are terrible to use when plugged into the supplied probes. You'll say to yourself, well, I got this for less than $50 so it's great. You'd be right too. Just don't convince yourself this is also a proffessional tool.If you want this for work. Then we have a completely different issue. THis is not for you. You'll be laughed at when anyone looks at the probes and their claim of 1000V. Same as the aligator clips and the way they connect. They don't fit in the meter securely either. They wobble like they are loose. The clips fall off the end of the probe easily. Not what you want on a meter that can have 1000V applied constantly with the twist of a dial. The meter uses 6 batteries (supplied) even though the case seems to have been designed for 8. The other strip has no connections. The screw holding the battery cover is not captive. It's my one big complaint for tools that are meant fo industry. Losing a screw on a factory floor or job site is something that can easily be designed out cheaply. If it's not done, then they really don't understand field usage at all.So this is a great entry level for hobbyists tool, but cannot and should not be considered as a professional tool. The meter does generate high voltages, but I didn't bother testing it to see how it conforms to actual specs because it would not be accepted as a reference tool anyway. Great go no go tool for the average hobbyist and thats it. But, it is cheap.

This is an effective entry level insulation resistance tester. It comes with a pair of leads, insulated alligator clips, and enough batteries to get started. The included leads are very flexible and about 3 feet long. The probes are very sharp and include caps to keep them sharp. The banana plus are better quality than I expected, they have four leaves and they fit firmly into the jacks. The included alligator clips just clip on the tip of the probes with a friction fit that is tight and it seems to maintain a good connection.I tested the device on a couple of high resistance resistors that I had lying around and everything seemed to be in range of the devices stated tolerance. I also tested a couple of known good electric motors that I had on hand and everything read exactly as it should.I was also impressed with the instructions included with this tester. This was my first time using an insulation tester and the instructions were translated well enough for me to figure out the basics and start using it.Overall, this insulation tester is perfect if you just need something for a few tests. The price is a great value for what you receive.

After trying to diagnose an instrument that would fail indicating a leakage across the poles, I finally opted to get this little machine in lieu of my generic Fluke multimeter that maxes out at 50 megohm.Had it figured out in no time! Showed 140 megohm between two of the poles, eureka! Was able to clean and replace insulators until it maxed this meter out at 2 G ohms. Instrument works like a champ now!Box is in Chinese, but if you're buying a device like this, you won't need instructions. Display even shows you which sockets to plug leads into for each setting if you're confused.I'm using this device in a professional setting and it's been fantastic. I could not justify spending hundreds or thousands on a Fluke for a device I won't need often.Oh, and do yourself a favor and dispose of the 6 heavy duty AA batteries that come included in the package. All heavy-duty batteries leak eventually, and when they leak, they leak acid. In a device like this that may sit unused on a shelf for many months, you don't want heavy duty batteries in there.

I compared this tester to a older megger I had and they agreed so I believe it is reasonable accurate. I like to test old motors and such before putting into service and it works well for that. Very happy with the product and price.
