I have been using the toner cartridges for several years now with good luck. Time to try drum replacement. So for so good.

I've been using V4inc toners and drums for several years, and have never had a problem. Last week, I ordered a new drum to replace an aging drum, but the new drum was defective (it did not print well on half of each page). I contacted customer service; they requested a photo of a printed document (so they could diagnose the problem), and within 48 hours promised to send me a new drum. It arrived 24 hours later, and I'm really pleased with their service. The defective drum could happen to anyone, but it's unusual to get this kind of service. My thanks to the Customer Service folks at V4ink. I'll continue to purchase all of my toner and drums from them. (Their prices are MUCH lower than those of the printer manufacturer.

Below was original complaint ... their support noticed ... contacted me and suggested a fix ... so I changed one star to 5 .. have used their products for long time and been satisfied customer until this incident .. could not find way to contact their support so wrote a 1 start noting this... they were on it immediately...Should make it easy to contact their support however!!!Have been using your products for sometime ... been happy and reorder many times... this last drum replacement puts ugly line on right side of page ... replaced toner twice no help...Tried to contact you but only way (after an hour of looking) was to make this review... Any help???

Absolute crap. Lasted only 4 months on a low use printer. 12000 pages is an absolute lie. It’s closer to 120 pages. Do not buy.

Needed to replace this part for my home computer and it seems to be working well. Definitely good value for the price vs. the Brother parts prices. This is a home printer so I did not want to spend close to $200 just to replace the drum and toner.

It's great quality and very cheap. Only small complaint is that it prints roughly 20% less than what is advertised. But for that price, I won't complain.

My printer was leaving blotches on the pages. I first replaced the toner but it didn't help. Apparently this problem is usually due to a drum issue. This was a bargain price, and extremely simple to install. My print quality immediately improved and the blotches are gone. I have been through a few toner cartridges, so I guess it was due for a new drum. I've since learned that the drum should be replaced after every few toners.I had contemplated just buying a new printer but I'm really glad I went with the drum. Much cheaper and I don't have to go through all the setup again. Also, better for the earth not to replace the entire printer.

Usually perform well, but just had one die with 57% drum life still. Must have been a defective unit. Not sure how often this happens but I've ordered 5-6 of these and 1 didn't perform well. Three stars instead of one because my other units worked well.UPDATE: I was contacted by V4INK and they offered to ship out a new drum. Arrived 2 days shipping and it works well. Unfortunately, it replaced a 2nd prematurely failing drum. I purchased another V4INK drum as a spare so I'll update this review if any of the replacements have any issues down the road.UPDATE #2: The drum from the first update is performing well and V4INK was determined to send me a replacement for the 2nd drum above. Kudos to Jennifer at V4INK for following up. Bump to 4 stars.

We have approximately 8 Brother HL-2270DW and similar printers that use this DR420 drum and the TN-420 and 450 cartridges. If you have these too, you have realized that the replacement drums are crazy expensive (like $95on Amazon --$125 if you walk into a big box office supply). I've tried a number of knock offs and was excited to try this one but, it this is not suitable for office use (well, maybe if you are just printing envelopes or drafts of things you do not care about). It leaves a dark shadow of toner all over the page. (If you are an old timer like me, you may remember what the curly fax thermal paper looked like back in the day? It's kind of like that.) As best I can tell, there is no "compatible" drum unit to replace the DR420 that is office quality. You have to buy the OEM version or you are not going to be happy. (I am a cheapskate and I hate saying that, but it is true). I have tried 3 different knock offs for he DR420 and none so far have produced an office quality print. It's also kind of true for the "compatible" TN-420 and TN-450 toner cartridges. We have had the best luck with the Polaroid brand knock offs (also available on Amazon), and terrible luck with some of the Chinese manufactured version. I have now begun buying the OEM TN-450's and refilling them with toner kits for $5-7 a piece (you also need to buy a gear set if you are refilling the starter TN-420 cartridge). It's messy, but if you can master this, it almost cuts the price of buying OEM in half. But alas, there is no such process to reuse the DR-420 Drum.My hot tips for any searching for a DR420 drum as cheaply as possible are these:1) if you scour, often you can find another HL-2270DW or similar model that uses the DR420 and it will come with a brand new toner and drum (there are about 15 different printers that use this combination of TN-420 or TN-450 and DR420 drum on sale for $69.99 ($30 less than buying a replacement drum) either on Amazon or various other websites. We have been buying these printers cheaply online when we can find them just to "steal" the Drum and toner cartridge out of them. Either that, or you simply need to toss the printer in the trash when the DRUM goes bad and scour for it's cheap Brother cousin on the internet. --this may actually make the most sense (unless you have wireless printer and the cheap printer you find does not have that capability. Keep one printer, use the drum and toner that came in the new one and toss the one you like the least. I have seen the OEM Brother DR-420 drum on Amazon for as low as $65.00, but if you can get the printer for $5.00, it makes sense because you are also getting a free starter toner cartridge for that $5.00. Brother needs to fix this or we will be filling landfills with the "shell" of their printers. Such a waste. Guess they aren't counting on savvy consumers who won't buy a drum for $30 more than than a new printer would cost them.2) Sometimes you can "reset" the DRUM (pretend it is a new one) and it will continue to work really well for awhile. Do this by opening the door to the printer, pulling out the drum/toner cartridge, sliding it back in. Then, WITH THE DOOR DOOR STILL OPEN, push the "go" button (usually on the left) and HOLD ITHE BUTTON DOWN UNTIL ALL THE LED LIGHTS LIGHT UP, then close the door and you should be set to go. The DRUM is supposed last for 12,000 pages, but if you read up on it, the drum counts "drum revolutions," not pages. For every print job, whether that print job is 1 page or 100 pages, the drum revolves once extra time at the beginning, and one time at the end and those revolutions COUNT for purposes of the 12,000 page counter. So if you have a lot of short print jobs like we do, it is going to signal that your drum is empty when it may have reached just 50% of it s useful life. Try resetting the drum and see if you can get more "goody" out of it.
