Information

Taps can be divided into straight flute thread taps, spiral flute thread taps, spiral point thread taps and thread forming taps. They are also divided into hand taps and machine taps according to the usage.

Hand taps are operated by tap wrenches. Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection. Recommended feed rate: General steel: 6-15m/min; harder steel: 5-10m/min; stainless steel: 2-7m/min; cast iron: 8-10m/min.

Extra Long Thread Taps

Straight Flute Tap

Provides rapid downward chip removal to achieve efficient thread cutting, suitable for processing through holes or shallow holes.

6542 (M2) High Speed Steel

6542 high-speed steel taps offer high hardness, good toughness, wear resistance, and excellent cutting performance.

Uncoated Taps

Feature just the base substrate without any additional coatings, great for a wide range of applications.

Machine Taps

  • Clear threads without burrs
  • Used with tapping machines, drilling machines, milling machines, CNC.
  • Drill the holes with a twist drill bit first, then tap with a thread tap.
  • The tapping angle should be 90 degrees vertical and stable.

Wide Applications

Thread taps create new threads or re-thread damaged or jammed threads. Widely used for most metals, iron plate, copper, zinc, alloy steel, abrasive steel, A3 steel, stainless steel, etc..

Add proper tapping oil for higher quality internal threads and more durable taps. The tapping depth should not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the tap (for example, the diameter M5x0.8 is about 5mm, and the depth should not exceed 7.5mm.)

Tips

Hand use or electric drill use is easy to cause breakage to the tap, so it is not recommended. Cutting oil is lubrication, cooling and anti-sticking. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.

Control speed according to material hardness. The higher the hardness, the slower the speed. Fast speed with small torque; slow speed with high torque. The force must be uniform in tapping operations.

Worked great for tapping a steel plate behind 2"s of foam. Did 12 tapes with zero issues. Would purchase again.

I needed an extra long tap to reach down in a hole and clean up the threads on an anchor at the bottom of the hole. This tap is extra long and did a nice job cleaning up the threads.

The tap is sharp. It cuts a good hole and it had to reach I needed to extend the past the 1 inch bar, keeping me from tapping the hole.

Broke minutes into first use in trying to extend existing threads in a stainless steel tube by less than a 1/4”. Very brittle.

I was halfway into a hole drilled to spec and I felt an odd movement, so slowly tried to back it off and it snapped inside the hole. Will take me am hour to drill this out and clean it. I'll just have to use one of the shorter taps I have and I will never buy this again. Machining is something you have to be able to rely on your tools for and I've literally never had a tap snap. Unreal. Thankfully my actual set of taps will likely be able mostly get it done but wow, what a huge time sink.
