- Temperature tolerance as high as 1150°C (2102°F) for continuous heating and as high as 1250°C (2282°F) for non-continuous heating. Chemical tolerance to most acidic, basic, and organic-based solvents including hydrochloric acid, anhydrous ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, or others.

The industrial-grade quartz crucibles have relatively coarsely-finished surfaces while the laboratory grade quartz crucibles have the best finely-finished surfaces with the highest transparent degree possible.
- Care needs to be taken for the material contained. Quartz-incompatible materials should be minimized in contact or fully avoided if possible, such as hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, chlorine trifluoride or other strong oxidizers.
