This is a great camera! Super easy to set up, install and use. It comes with 30 days free of cloud storage and the paid storage is very fairly priced. You can get cloud storage for one or multiple cameras so you donât over pay if you only have the one and save if you have multiple. There are also 7 and 30 day plans for the storage so you can pick the length of storage theyâre Iâll keep and have the option to download footage directly from the app.It has auto updates feature and you can choose the time of day or night for it to do so.It has a slot for local storage but the cloud is much more convenient (unlimited).Person detection works flawlessly, and the movement detection works even too good (it picked up a bug flying 5-6ft from the camera, picks up light changes- car headlights and you can hear a lot)The best feature that sold me on this thing besides the price was the option to talk to whomever was at the door. It is a two way radio.I have not had any problems so far with this guy, other than the fact that I had to lengthen the cable as it did not reach to the outlet I wanted to use, but you can also use an extension cable instead of being extra like me đ

I wanted this camera to install at our front door to watch the front porch, sidewalk and driveway without having to run power wire to the placement. I had this camera up and running very quickly, connected to my wifi and the Tapo app, and the mount installed near the front door with one screw inside 1 hour. We've had it up for a little over a month and it's working great for us. Both the wife and I have the app on our phones and ipads, and we both have set it for alerts when there is "motion" or a "person" detected. There is also a setting for "pet alert" but the motion works for alerting that our dogs are at the door. The picture is very clear, day or night, and the memory (with our own memory card added) works well so we can see who/want has been at our door or sidewalk. I did block out the street so we don't get an alert for every car that drive by. We've had it up about a month and use it a lot and the battery is at 71% so I'd guess we'll need to take it in to charge about every 3 months, but we use our front door a lot and view it a lot so we are draining the battery quicker than if it was used less. In the spring I will add another to our back porch so we can watch the dogs out back and anyone on our back patio. Highly recommended! I won't hesitate to recommend this camera to friends.

Excellent Products, Outstanding Customer ServiceAfter starting with a competitive (and yes, cheaper) competitor's camera, I decided to try Tapo because I have several TP-Link devices and a WiFi router already installed in my house, and they have performed flawlessly.Good decision! My first Tapo camera choice was a wired C510W, which I wanted for our front porch, This Pan/Tilt camera is very well constructed, and easy to install. (Tapo even provided an extra screw. Who hasn't had a dropped/lost screw turn an easy install into an unfinished nightmare?) Once installed and connected, it worked almost exactly as expected, and provided excellent video. One minor shortcoming is that the "person detect" function applies some sort of AI processing after the camera has detected motion, so you cannot easily limit recordings only to people. Turning on motion detection means capturing any movement first, and then post-processing to see if people were captured. Generated lots of recordings without people in my case. Still, really great camera controls and filters and settings to help minimize false event recording, which I did eventually master. Good notification tools and easy controls and access to review recorded video without wasting a lot of time searching. EXCELLENT camera!Another good indication of the company's thinking is the web-based optional service provided free for the first month with the camera purchase. When the one-month trial ends, the service is terminated by default (!), so you are not automatically enrolled in the service with recurring costs every month. Easy to subscribe and keep it going, of course. My second camera was a fully wireless C425 with an integrated PIR motion detector to specifically identify and capture people or pets, to monitor comings and goings of animals in our back yard.Again, easy to install and connect, and again, a spare screw for the fumble-fingered amon us. The PIR makes recording of animals and people a breeze. The battery life is very good so far, although I have a lot of squirrels in the yard, so the camera wakes up often. Still, after three weeks of recording squirrels abd rabbits, the battery is still at 83%, more than meeting my expectations.Totally satisfied with the PIR funcionality and the camera features overall. Another W=EXCELLENT camera. As a final note, Tapo's customer service has been simply outstanding. Quick, knowledgable, relevant responses, and an obvious commitment to customer satisfaction make this arguably the best company I've ever dealt with when oit comes to customer support. This review is uncompensated, and posted to each of the two cameras mentioned.

Since the first moment I installed this camera I was blown away. I have had plenty of experience with other low cost cameras, namely Wyze and then Eufy, but I believe Tapo is far superior in several aspects. It packs a lot of features that only more expensive cams offer. The picture quality both during the day and night is great, and the volume is quite adequate. It is packed with many features, but I will mention what was more important to me in particular. For my needs I preferred a wired camera able to record 24/7 and with no subscription required. The presence of an ethernet port was an unexpected surprise for a camera at this price point. When it comes to the âNo Subscription Requiredâ Tapo includes many features that other cameras do not. For example, if you want to be alerted when a person is detected, Tapo will do it for free, but other âno-subscription requiredâ cameras will tell you that for that feature you DO need a subscription. For the amount of features offered as a âNo Subscription Requiredâ camera buying a Tapo camera was a no brainer. Also, keep in mind that this model will accept a micro SD card up to 512GB so you will be able to save a lot of footage if you are recording 24/7 like me.After using the apps from Eufy, Wyze and Tapo, I feel more comfortable with the Tapo app. It is more streamlined and clean, and also it is not constantly marketing other products with annoying in app ads.Another huge advantage is that Tapo cameras are better integrated with Google Assistant. If you have tried Eufy cameras you know you cannot cast the stream to Google devices. This Tapo camera is the first one where I have been able to use a voice command to flawlessly cast the camera stream to Chromecast, Google Nest, and other TVs that run the Google environment. When it comes to warranty, I have been burned too many times by Wyze and Eufy when it comes to their customer service and backing up their products. Although I have never contacted Tapo, it gives me great peace of mind to know that both Tapo and Kasa cameras are part of a reputable company like TP-Link.After buying this Tapo camera I have decided to eventually switch all my cameras and run under their ecosystem. My only regret is not having tried them earlier.I would conclude that Tapo is a budget friendly camera from a reputable brand that offers excellent quality and it is well integrated with Google Assistant. On the other hand, Eufy and Wyze offer cheap cameras at not so cheap prices, the kind of products that are marketed on the Tik Tok marketplace to the uninformed.

Camera setup was easy and has some nice features like an option to use WiFi or Ethernet, geofencing, being able to alert you to specific occurrences such as a car detected, person detected, animal detected, and if someone crosses a defined area or line. It has an alarm, although not very loud but enough to let someone near it know theyâre being recorded. There are also 2 LED lights for recording, but itâs not something that will light up anything (like the ground), even when set to 100% brightness, but is intended to enhance the video quality. I turned it off so itâs not obvious when it detects motion and is actively recording. You can also turn off the LED status light so it doesnât call attention to it as much. The thing I donât like is that the inside of the lens sometimes âfogs upâ, even when mounted indoors, making it impossible to identify anything. It tends to clear up if I turn the camera off for a few minutes. Other times, in daylight when the lens isnât foggy, the video isnât bad. I have concerns it will get extra foggy should it be humid, cold, or raining.Overall it has nice features, but poor video (or perhaps this one is defective). I set the video resolution to the max of 2K and also tried HDR mode for increased clarity, so this was as good as it gets. Even at that, after dark with outside lights on, itâs impossible to identify someone 7â below where the camera is mounted.UPDATE: The video has been clear after that first day or so. Iâm thinking some moisture had gotten in and it just had to burn off in the sun. I added another photo of someone about 25â out with a leaf blower, and the quality is pretty good. I would definitely recommend.
