I bought this as a switch I could mount straight to the battery. My battery uses M8 bolts and the offset mounting bars made it impossible to secure. I wish the busbars were flush with the bottom of the switch (see pic)..

I have an older 2012 Mazda from when they were first integrating all the digital bells & whistles. When I bought the car, used, the owner was honest, she said there's a mysterious drain on the battery if you don't use the car everday. She gave me such a great price, I gladly paid for the responsibility. I must confess, it became a REAL problem. The dealership wanted $375 to hook-up the car to their "diagnostic equipment". I seriously wondered if there could be an affordable alternative. Well, there IS..! This "battery kill-switch" cuts off the car's electronics from feeding-off the battery when not in use. Yes, for some, it might be a pain-in-the-a** to open the hood to disengage the kill-switch everytime you start the car, but... for $40, and no longer getting stranded and searching for people to jump-start you, I must say, this alternative is WELL-WORTH the slight inconvenience that comes with it. I highly recommend this particular kill-switch because of the built-in voltometer, which is most helpful in knowing how many volts your car is drawing. So, if you've got the same old car, and you know it's NOT the battery or the alternator, TRY THIS..!

This at its core is a simply battery disconnect. The led display requires a battery connection so as it cycles (on ) there will be some draw of current but other than that the display is off. The direction are clear and this breaks the connection to the negative battery terminal side of the battery. I purchased for. 2015 Suzuki dl650 vstrom motorcycle which doesn’t get ridden much in the Florida summer. This took about 15 minutes to hook up and seems robustly built. One improvement that could be made is the ability to mount via side post or a slightly slimmer connection as there was a very tight fit under the motorcycles seat. Works great and feels high quality but you need to check space for your application. It would work under almost any car hood I have encountered but under a bike seat measure first.

I've had to use a battery switch on my old van, there are some door sensors that are malfunctioning and constantly drawing power, they too expensive to fix and I want to squeeze a few more years out of this old beast. I've been using a battery switch for years on it. I turn off the juice at night and the battery keeps up OK.This unit replaced an old bolt type cutoff, which was not working properly after a few years due to corrosion. This one looks to be very heavy duty, nicely made and the voltage indicator is a handy extra feature. The instructions are not very good, they appear to be translated somewhat poorly from some other language. Better than some I've seen, but not very clear on some points. They are good enough.Just make sure to check every nut and bolt on the device before putting it on, all the connections are sent loose. This way you can adjust the unit to fit the way you need.I can tell this unit is allowing more current through it, the older one I replaced was having corrosion issues, this one being all sealed up, should avoid that.

Works well for my case. I'm having issues with parasitic draw on my 40 year old tractor and rather than go through and troubleshoot where it's coming from, I put a temporary solution in place; just switch the battery off when I'm not using it. It's nice to also have an added voltimeter as I don't have one on my cluster.
