Printer bed leveling is now actually fun to watch, rather than the tedious chore it was when doing it manually.

IF your 3D Print bed is ALUMINUM, and it is covered with a GLASS SHEET thicker than 3MM?FORGET about using this sensor. Yes! It will detect STEEL at 8mm but ALUMINUM detection is less than 4mm.DESCRIPTION should clarify detection distances for various METALS.VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Worked great until it didn't.Added a star because the seller was very responsive in sending me a replacement sensor.

The cable is too short for Ender 3 sized printers

(12/27/2022 update) I am very upset that this failed a year with rare usage.. my BLTouch is still working even after constant use. Do not buy, they do not lastOriginal ReviewI was really nervous on getting this at least because most of these sort of sensors require more than 5V to properly function on 3D printers. But to my happy surprise, it actually works at the rated distance (8mm on my Fulament spring steel sheet) at 5V! Though it came a bit scratched up, it does still work however.

I've been rebuilding a Printrbot Jr metal 3d printer that was given to me with a bad motherboard. I replaced the board with a MKS Gen L. The only problem was the board is incompatible with the original Z-axis sensor (6-36v, PNP, 4mm). I needed a 5v NPN. After a few failed attempts to adapt the original using some circuits I found, I ordered this one. I also wanted a greater sensing distance as the old one would not work with the addition of a heated glass bed. This one was plug-and-play electrically - just make sure and get the right wires to the right pins and configure the firmware. No extra circuitry required. The only problem I had, and this was purely caused by me not paying attention, is that this sensor has a substantially larger diameter than the original (M18 vs M12) so I had to do a bit of rework on the mounting. But once that was done, it works great! Something to keep in mind tho if you're changing sensors like I was.

Works great as a homing / bed leveling sensor for my ender 3 pro 3D printer. Tied right into the 5 volt supply. I’ve designed a sturdy mount for this you can print. Find it on tinkercad or thingiverse, search for “Ender 3 Leveling M18 Inductive Sensor Bracket”

This sensor works perfectly. I get very accurate and consistent readings from it every time. I highly recommend this sensor!
