Sony cameras love to overheat, so this helps with that!It fits perfect on several cameras and gets really cold!

Unlike most camera cooling fans, this one is an actual heat radiator. When you turn it on, you can feel the backside of it getting colder. It runs quiet even on high speed and does a great job of keeping my Sony a7iv cooler (my camera model is known to overheat when shooting 4K.) The fan itself feels solid and built well.It is mounted onto the camera by a plastic frame that clicks into the fold out screen area. The fan fits inside the plastic frame. There are several different plastic frames included so it can be used with common camera types. The frames are one of this product’s two big flaws. The fan doesn’t secure into the frame by anything other than the resistance of the fan itself. If you were to remove and reinsert the fan on a regular basis, I believe the frame will work loose over time and not hold the fan as well. The frame then fits into the fold out screen area by tucking into the hinge and clicks into place using the camera’s screen catch. The problem is it doesn’t catch very well against the plastic frame, so the fan and frame end up just sitting in the cutout area. This works fine if you are in a stationary setup like in a studio doing interviews, but it will not be secure enough moving around with it using a gimbal or handheld. It needs a better way to clip into both the camera and the plastic frame. The other big flaw is the lack of battery and the placement of the power port. In order to power this, it must be plugged in via the USB-C port in the back of the fan. The cord sticks out considerably when plugged in, making the camera more clunky. If you have your camera on a set of rails as part of a rig with an external battery, this won’t be as big of an issue. But if you are like me and don’t use your camera like that, you in essence have to stay tethered to a wall outlet or find a way to secure a power bank to your camera. It would make much more sense to include a battery within the fan, even if it means adding a little more mass.I’ll reiterate that when it comes to cooling, this camera fan excels. The design is just in need of some big improvements.
