We have a long driveway - 300 feet - and this notifies the receiver INSIDE the house from that distance. Even with the house being metal sided.Occasionally missies a passing vehicle - NEVER misses an Animal or person and does NOT suffer from false notifications.

I hope it’s ready to go outside! I can’t live without a driveway alarm. Easy to set up and I like all the chimes to choose from!

It really is a good system, but I don't recommend deaf people buy it, it's not very VISUAL at all, But for a hearing person it's a great value !

I prefer driveway alarms that detect ungrounded, metal objects. I got this as a backup, as most of the former devices seem to have a limited lifetime (gone through 4 of them in 15 years). The IR detectors tend to detect everything that moves, not just vehicles. The sensitivity adjustment and pointing the sensor at just the driveway surface have made this work almost flawlessly. The cost is minimal, so give it a try. To be fair, the induction types can be triggered by lightning. So each method has issues. My sensor is 300 ft away from the base and it works fine.

Not great for my application. Would be good on town drive way where no foliage and ect. On my rural drive way no matter how I set up got too many false alarms but distance was great

I've now had this item for six months and should give my best analysis of this product. When opening the back of the outside unit to activate, noticed no weatherproof seal or O-ring on back cover. Feel this should be improved, however, to date the sender has not malfunctioned. Distance from the house is not as described. I had to place the sensor within 400 feet of the house on the approach for it to be reliable. Not to say the receiver is not in direct sight, behind two walls and a hill. This has worked well at that distance. Fault signals came from fallen branches or wildlife. I have installed the batteries in the base unit, placed it by my side while working out back in the shop. It notifies me of my deliveries, mail or visitors. Would like better ring tones/or downloadable ones. For the price, I will buy more outside sensors.

I've had a few different driveway / security alarms over the years. This system was easy to install and simple to use. I bought two single transmitter systems and paired both receivers so I get alerted whether in the house or the garage. The other nice thing is if Im expecting someone I can just put batteries in the receiver and walk around the farm, and get alerted when they show as expected. Also an excellent security device as it is easy to hide almost anywhere along the property to help with unwanted intruders, large or small.

I had bought cheaper driveway alarms before and it always gave me false alarms. I set the sensitivity at mid2 and no more false alarms. Easy to set and understand. Don’t have to recharge batteries all the time. Make sure you fully charge the sensor before installing.

UPDATE #2 (1 YEAR IN OPPORATION): Still no issues. We've had this up for about 1 year now, still works like it did on day one. Central Iowa, through last year's winters that at times hit negative 30. Still works, everyday, every time! Would Definity recommend!UPDATE: We've had this for 4 months from Nov to Feb in central Iowa. Worked great all winter, even in the -30 -40 wind chills. We've got used to shutting it off over night. It serves it's purpose very well. Worth the money!ORIGINAL POST:1st off, we didn't buy this for home security, it was more for my Wife who works from home in the back side of the house, so she is alerted when a delivery is made and that sort of thing. But it works good!PROS:- Works great- Seemingly good range (Ours is about 150ft from the base station 2 walls deep in our house)- Good adjustability on sensitivity and motion- Plenty loud in the house.CONS:- If you live where there's some wildlife (Deer, Raccoon, stray cats, turkey's etc) this thing is on and active at all hours, there's no way to mute it overnight (I have home security system for night, this is only used for daytime notifications). So the first couple nights I was up constantly because it kept tripping. I wish you could just put it in "sleep mode" over night. Instead you have to shut it off or unplug it. Doing this stops the digital clock. So when you turn it back on you have to reset the clock, or just live with it never having the right time of day. This is on our kitchen counter, and would use it to tell time, but it's become too big of a hassle resetting it daily... That's the only reason for it not getting 5 stars.I live in central Iowa, We get -20 to -30 temps in the winter. I'll update if this stops performing. That being said, it DOES have a "Mute" button, but that only mutes that event, so if in 5 minutes another animal walks by, it lets you know.We just shut it off at night.
