I may never use my Smittybilt 2744 Universal Snatch Block. But a Snatch Block like a gun, fire extinguisher, insurance, a spouse are invaluable when you need it.I bought the Smittybilt 2744 Universal Snatch Block, not because it was cheap but the technical information and price made it the best value.I think I made a good choice, it feels solid.

Taking this out of the box and gripping that heavy cold steel flashed back a past life of a knuckle dragging neanderthal, hunting mastodons in the open plains of tundra. Highly recommended for all bearded males who can start a fire with a spark from snapping your fingers, even if all you'll do with this is carry it in your pocket as a good luck charm. This is not for the skinny jean guys sporting those soccer mom hair buns. This is for MEN! So be a MAN and buy this!

Bought this knowing it was overkill for my purposes, but I wanted a block capable of some winch recovery for a small SUV in the winter, that would lessen the direct point to point strain on my winch. It works well for my vehicle as well as working with my ATV winch (though it is comically over-spec'd).The block, while solidly built, doesn't inspire a ton of confidence in the weight rating they claim. The metal where you attach a D-Ring starts to get a little thin for something claiming over 17,000lb load capacity. Likewise the pulley axle doesn't quite feel up to the stated load rating. I feel like pushing above 15,000lbs load you'd likely be risking failure of one or both components, potentially even less weight could cause damage.I'd trust this thing to winch out a standard pick up with a light load on it, but I definitely wouldn't trust this thing anywhere near it's load rating without taking some definite safety precautions.

Perfect, great product and I can’t believe how fast it came to my door. Under 24 hrs from when I ordered. I’m blown away.

Very strong. Heavier than I thought. Great ball bearing pulley. Rolls very well. Have used it to bring a dozens of difficult trees down. Be careful to use the correct size rope that fits well in the groove not to create drag to lose power and damage the rope.

Be aware that this is a substantial block, 9" x 5", suitable for pulling full sized off road vehicles. I bought it for ATV use and felling trees, which is probably overkill. But at this price ($38), it's a great deal and will last forever.

I will be using this snatch block come wintertime as I run a wrecker service, I bought I cheaper brand to compare the two and this one by Smittybilt is by far the superior item.Has the grease zerk but ships without any grease which I understand why they do that.Rating sticker on the snatch block itself with instructions on its "Proper use" which is huge plus as safety is number one when using any of these snatch blocks.Very heavy duty and also states that if the metal shows "any" signs of "Stretching" (around the hole where you attach it to a clevis etc) It must be replaced! If you don't it could break loose and even kill someone. So let that be warning to people considering buying any of these things. The box was in poor shape when it arrived but it was wrapped in bubble wrap and arrived in good condition.Hope this helps a few folks looking to buy one, do not buy anything made in China! as its crap. (seriously)

I was very pleased upon receiving and opening the packaging of this block. Very heavy, very well finished, large 2" chocker hole with the two side pieces of heavy gauge metal (greater than 1/8" thick) at a minimum of 7/8"+ around the chocker hole, a well-finished cast pulley of approx. 3.5" dia. (the cast finish is fine for wire rope, maybe a little rough for fiber rope), and a good grease zerk in the large pivot axle. A quality piece of work ... at a great price!

I purchased this snatch block and was a little leary about A $25 snatch block. After reading the reviews and not always trusting jeepers (I know a lot of them and most have the winch and the lift and all the bells and whistles and yet most jeeps never see the off road or ever use the winch or rigging) I decided to buy it.I used it this weekend to haul logs up a hill. We secured the snatch block to a tree and ran a 200' 3/8" cable through it to haul trees we cut down up to a place where we could buck the trees into logs for fire wood. The Snatch block was superb. We put more strain on it than any jeeper ever would and it did awesome. The only problem is I didn't grease it before we used it (we didn't have any with us) and because of the lack of grease the friction on wheel caused the axel to pop off. I pretty much trashed the sucker, but it saved our butts. I am pretty sure it can be saved.would I buy it again? Yes. I just purchased a second. Is it worth the $25. Hell yes. Its a great product, just make sure you grease the thing before you haul 25 trees up a steep hill.

I purchased this snatch block for ATV use after reading the good reviews and the great price. One other reviewer stated it may be too big for ATV use but used it for their UTV. When it finally arrived I realized just how big it was. I didn't think to take measurements, but from memory it was roughly 8-9" long and 4-5" wide which is just too big to haul around on an ATV. I did return it without any problems but want to let other potential buyers know that this appeared to be a well built snatch block for bigger uses such as truck or Jeep applications.

This guy is strong and huge, so it may be a bit too large for ATVs, but probably be used for UTVs, I have a large Ranger UTV and this is more than enough for my needs. Ignore the pix in the Amazon display, this only comes with the snatch block as accurately represented in the product description. The picture scale must be off, because this thing is almost big enough that you can fit your hand through the loop. In the pix the whole assembly gives you the illusion that the whole unit is no bigger than the average hand. Unless storage space is a problem, this unit is big enough for any non-commercial application. I am confident to use it with my 8,000 lb truck.
