I have a Pac Tool Gecko and they work great. This item is very similar but leaves a gap where the siding can slide into. Although labeled for 5/16 siding, it may work for thicker material. I am installing Hardie 6 1/4" siding. The siding can be damaged when it falls..

This siding tool has been a total game-changer for my home renovation project. Itโs like having an extra set of hands, holding the cement boards steady while I nail them in place. The adjustable spacing feature is super handyโno more constant measuring to get consistent gaps between boards. Weโre putting up Hardie board planks, and this tool makes it so easy that you can definitely do it yourself! It slides in under the second board, spacing it perfectly. You can adjust it to change the gap size, ensuring the lines are straight around doors and windows. It works great! I originally bought a set but had to return it because I needed a building permit for the work. Then I found them on Amazon. The tool is sturdy enough to hold a full 12-foot board, which is impressive for a plastic tool. The rubber grip is a nice touch and hasnโt left any marks on my pre-painted siding. Installation is easy once you get the hang of itโit took me a few tries to find my rhythm, but now itโs smooth sailing.
